Boulter and Miyazaki are both also through to the second round in the women’s draw - Miyazaki is in as a qualifier.

Boulter did have a tricky looking second round draw against Caroline Garcia but the 7th seed was beaten by a Chinese qualifier. A real possibility of a 3rd/4th round appearance now, fingers crossed.

Burrage v Blinkova to come later on.
  • Evans wins in straight sets.
  • It's amazing with the lower ranked players how much difference reaching a Grand Slam and then winning a game can make. £98,000 really helps pay the bills.
  • Great win for Burrage. She beats world no. 38 Blinkova in straight sets.

I believe that’s every Brit across both men’s and women’s draws to have won in the first round.

It’s a good day for the British men so far, with Murray, Norrie and Draper all advancing to round 2. Meanwhile Dan Evans is 2-0 up in sets against Galan.

    Second round opponents:
    • Murray v Dimitrov [19]
    • Draper v Hurkacz [17]
    • Norrie [16] v Hsu
    • Evans [26] v van de Zandschulp
    And the women:
    • Boulter v Wang
    • Miyazaki v Bencic [15]
    • Burrage v Zanevska / Sabalenka [2]
  • Even cooler stat than the fact that 7 out of 7 Brits are through to Round 2 is that they’ve won 18 sets out of 18 between them also.

x4 3 set wins for the men
x3 2 set wins for the women
But upon being informed that the seven British players had not dropped a set between them, Evans himself was stunned: “Fucking hell,” he said.
  • And they all receive a minimum of $123000 in prize money
  • Miyazaki beaten 6-3 6-3 by Bencic.

And it wasn't handed to them on a plate like Wimbledon wildcards are

Tough games for Murray and Draper today. Looks easier for Evans and Norrie.

Burrage faces the No2 seed but Boulter has to have a good chance against Wang.

    • Boulter v Wang has just started on Court 5. And Draper v Hurkacz has just started on Court 12.
    • Murray v Dimitrov is 1st on Arthur Ashe - starting in around an hour.
    • Burrage v Sabalenka is second on Louis Armstrong. The first match on that court (Sonego v Sinner) just started.
    • Norrie v Hsu is third on Court 11 and Evans v van de Zandschlup is fourth on Court 11.

Need a couple of screens to keep up with all the Brits today!
  • Draper breaks serve in the first game
  • Boulter’s serve broken by Wang
  • Boulter back on serve at 3-3 and Draper has a double break at 4-1.
  • Draper takes the first set over 17th seed Hurkacz 6-2.
  • Boulter squanders three set points on Wang’s serve and then is broken in the next game. Wang to serve for the first set at 6-5.
  • From 4-5 15-40 to 7-5, Boulter loses the first set to Wang.
  • Draper has another break in the second set. Going well against Hurkacz.
  • Draper beats Hurkacz in straight sets! 6-2 6-4 7-5. Very impressive victory.

Boulter is serving for the match against Wang in the third set. 5-7 6-1 5-4.

Murray lost the first set to Dimitrov 6-3.

  • Thanks for updates Callum
  • Katie Boulter into round 3 of the US Open for the first time after beating Wang 5-7 6-1 6-4.
  • Not looking so good for Murray who now trails Dimitrov by a set and a break.
  • That's a great win for Draper. It deserves more headlines than being buried by the Murray result.
  • Draper looks to be the future of British tennis if he can stay injury free.
  • Murray down 2-0 in sets to Dimitrov.

Burrage about to fall a set behind against Sabalenka.
  • Murray and Burrage both out following straight sets defeats. Disappointed for Andy.
  • Draper looks to be the future of British tennis if he can stay injury free.
Agreed. Hopefully he is not the tennis Chuks.

Both Evans and Norrie won - Evans in four sets, Norrie in three sets.

Evans faces Alcaraz next, while Norrie faces world no. 61 Matteo Arnaldi. The winner of each of those matches would play each other so a slim chance of a Brit v Brit 4th round.

Draper’s third round match is against American wildcard Michael Mmoh. Mmoh has beaten 11th seed Khachanov and John Isner to get to round 3.

Katie Boulter’s third round opponent is Peyton Stearns - American who sits at 59th in the WTA rankings. If Boulter were to win, it would all but guarantee she breaks into the world’s top 50 for the first time.

No Brits in action on Friday - Draper, Boulter, Evans and Norrie will all play on Saturday.

  • Enjoying watching Draper - exciting talent.
