A friend of mine in it, he's done quite a few of the recent bond films.7 -
I’ll put you down for a maybe Jimmy.
If they really wanted to confirm Bond as dead they would have shown him dying, dead, or a funeral. They showed none of them, purposely I believe, leaving a (small) percentage of ambiguity for idiots like me and @se9addick

If the next bond starts with him surviving that then it will be ridiculous.
I'm convinced the next film will be a complete reboot with a lesser known actor.5 -

I’m pretty sure it was targeted at the DNA of Mr Green’s family (Lea Seydoux and her offspring). Otherwise Bond would have instantly died.1

Thats how I understood it as well, and he definitely was exploded at the end which I thought was a brave call, it would have been very Bond for him to find a miraculous escape in a waste chute or something and driven off into the sunset with Lea Seydoux and their blue eyed little girl with Louis Armstrong providing the soundtrack

Watched it today. Thought it was excellent.
I'm a bit Meh about Craig as Bond. Don't know why. He's excellent. I haven't watched many of his. Maybe Skyfall?
Anyhow,we decided to watch Spectre last night which was lucky or wouldn't have had a clue today!
My Mrs was shocked that he's got a little girl, until I pointed out he's probably got 50!
No way he is dead. This franchise makes far too much money.1 -

Glad @JohnBoyUK mentioned that he welled up at the end, I have no idea why but when Louis Armstrong started I really did fill up. I loved OHMSS, it will always be one of my top 10 favourite films of all time and to hear that music really did get me. Loved it.1

I heard that in the next bond movie they are going to start of the film with bond as a man and thru the film he will gradually turn into a women ,They’ve called it Cocktopussy10

I enjoyed the film but I preferred Spectre. Probably because I am a fan of Christolph Waltz. I know he was in the latest film but with a much smaller part. I thought the ending was good and not really a problem when you think about the different numbers and variety of Bonds and times they operate in. It was the closure of Craig's Bond.2

Better rename the thread "double spoiler".
As, just when those that still ain't seen it are coming to terms with Bond getting killed, we've now been told it was staged.1 -
Watched this again last night. It does say at the end credits James Bond will return.I reckon it might be a younger Bond from when he first joined the service.0
-
Bond defo returning and think people will have to come to terms with this having been a 5 movie Daniel Craig era with zero continuity or relevance to what occurs next. I reckon you are probably right, but this will be combined with re-imagining of previously released Bond books. Whatever it is, glad the character lives on and hope they keep it Craig level Bond gritty. None of the nonsense from the Pierce Brosnan phase.1

I saw it the other night. Not been into Bond since the early eighties as nothing can beat films like Diamonds are Forever, Live & Let Die or Man with the Golden Gun. Which is why I post this.....
People moaning saying Bond is dead/isn't dead don't get the irony. If Bond is "real" then he would be about 100 now....yet is played (lately) as someone in his late forties/early fifties. How old was "Bond" when Roger Moore jumped over the sharks in the 70's......has he not aged since ? Sean Connery looked ancient with his hairpiece in Never Say Never.....and that was 40 years ago.
And the moniker 007 was passed back & forth in this last film, so no constant there either.
But like I say, I'm not a Bond aficionado so I expect some bright spark will now tell me about time continums or suchlike.
To me it's a film. No more, no less.8 -
Daniel Craig was a reboot anyway, Casino Royale had him getting his 00 status, Blofeld was redone in Spectre etc. Judi Dench as M got older between him and Brosnan despite Bond being younger.
So any new Bond can just be the same, there's little continuity between the films and that's half the point.0 -
There's 3 ways they can go if you ask me
1. They reboot, as they always used to do before Craig, and start again with a new Bond in a new "universe"
2. They decide that James Bond is actually just a moniker, an alias used for multiple people. James Bond can never die, because it's not just one person, and put that into the current "universe"
3. They sell their soul to the devil and turn Bond into an episodic series, with more comedy and drama than action, release it on Prime Video and cater it to the younger generation who consume media in smaller chunks1 -
2. Is the way forward.
James Bond 007 is the code name and number.0 -

I'm probably repeating myself but that's a theme of this thread - no matter how many times people are told how it works, someone comes back and says "Well I think Craig's Bond will return! He wasn't 100% dead!" which is baffling to me. Still.

I'm in a tiny tiny minority but I really like the over the top Brosnan Bond. I like watching Bond use outrageous gadgets and there being far fetched supervillains6
