Bloody brilliant! For the first time in months I am proud of my team. Not only 3 points away at promotion chasing Sunderland, but a clean sheet and most importantly, a very, very good all round performance.
Outstanding individual performances from Adam Matthews (best I’ve seen him play, ever), Akin Famewo (back to how he impressed us last season), George Dobson (at last played to his strengths) and Jon Leko ( looked a class above).
It's been obvious to almost all of us that we needed to play two up front and Jacko, sensibly, duly obliged. But this wasn’t a static formation. Leko often joined Washington and Stockley in attack, Purrington marauded down the left, Gilbey was everywhere.
Fantastic. So pleased for Jacko, delighted for the lads, thrilled for the travelling addicks who again did our club proud.31 -
Nigel Adkins must be super pissed off . They haven’t played like that all season.

Did we ever have a fitness issue or was it players not wanting to go the extra mile before? Can't have all got fit since Adkins went.7

Curbs said on comms what I was going to open with: huge shout out to Dobson. He did all the dirty work in front of the back four and kept things ticking over. We've lacked a mobile holding midfielder with Arter and Watson aging and Clare more box to box and Morgan just not a holding midfielder. Dobson has shown it in the cup but I wasn't sure it would translate as there is so much more time and space in those games. It translated and then some.
Such better organization as a team. Such better passing and actually working the ball through the midfield. Having Washington up top to chase and link with Stockers, and allow Stockers to drop deep and pull out wide, makes a huge, huge difference. It stretches defenses and makes the opposition less compact back to front. That creates space in the midfield for Gilbey and Lee to operate in, and then hit Leko out wide.
Great team performance. Never would have thought of Leko as a RWB but he had a massive tackle in the first half and massive header in the second.
