I think we still have a lot of work to do but if we can get a win up there then we can hopefully pull away from the bottom. A key win as well seeing as Doncaster won and so did Shrewsbury.
We just need to get clear of the relegation zone. Anything we build from that point on is a bonus. I know that doesn’t seem too ambitious, but I think the damage to this season has been done. If anything it could be a great way for Jackson to cut his teeth. He absolutely has to keep us up, but there’s no real expectation of him
What a performance - JJ set that team up perfectly and they put in a massive shift for the shirt and new boss. Been crying out for Dobson, Purrington and Washington to start and for only 1 winger and a return to 2 up front and hey presto the team and shape looked infinitely better. Makes you wonder what was going through Adkins head when he refused to pick Dobson after the first few games and chose to play Morgan as a holding midfielder against Accrington Stanley and pick Soare over Purrington.
Solid away performance just what the doctor ordered. Amazing what levels players can reach when they try and want to make the shirt theirs under a new guvernor. Great team effort all pulling for one another with pride in the badge.
Rode our luck a bit at times but we should’ve scored a couple before our opener. Upwards and onwards and more of the same please Jacko you Charlton legend you 👏👍
The players should be ashamed of themselves for the awful performances they have put in this season. I dont remember Adkins ever crossing the white line and playing for us, yet he gets the blame whilst this bunch of chancers who havent put a shift in all season are lauded as heroes. They need to take a good look at themselves.
I agree with @PeanutsMolloy way back, I thought the ref was good. He was able to distinguish between a robust tackle or bodycharge, and a foul. And the game was the better for it. I dont know why he didnt book the sunderland defender who handballed our goal, but the stream showed him running up to the defender, who was in the net , and saying something to him. Maybe “lucky you were over the line when you handballed it”.
But the best bit was when Terry Smith on Valley Pass said “ the ref is coming over to have a word with Lee Johnson”. Actually the ref came over and bent down to let Johnson rant in his ear for a good 15 seconds.
On the train back to Kings X, absolutely buzzing! That’s a bit more like it! Wanted a performance first! To have that AND 3 points makes today one of the away days that live long in the memory. Just going to put some Petrol in the bandwagon give it a jump start and away we go! Sure more heartache to come (it’s the Charlton way). But that’s my Charlton! Full of fight!
Hope we did the club proud with the support! JJ/JE, I thank you! COYRS!!!
well done Jacko, well done team - i don't want to hear any more about the players not trying and now trying - that is bullshit - what we have seen is a new manager setting the team up correctly and giving the players a chance to win a game - players become fatigued when they know what they are being asked to do is nonsense - jacko has rectified that and the only way is up now - COYR !!!

It was a grown up performance and one I wasn’t sure we had the ability to deliver - well not in the space of 4 days. It was industrial. When you have other clubs fans squealing to/ about the referee it pretty much means you have come to play.
I am pleased for Dobson. I doubt he will ever be everyone’s cup of tea but with our current personnel he does provide one fundamental function. He is just my type of player. You pretty much get what it says on the tin. He is a pretty basic footballer. He will have his positive moments on the ball but is a player with decent mobility who naturally anchors the midfield.
Without that anchor we have looked clueless and shapeless.
If we had 3 fully rounded midfield players who can run, tackle, pass, score goals, close people down and drop into shape then Dobson might struggle to get a game. We don’t.
He will have his good days and his bad days and still has some growing to do. Today was a good day. He needs to build on it.
Well I'm glad the team didn't think it was a free hit like some posters did !
And if you followed the pre match thread I predicted a win - all be it 2-1 as even I didn't think we could keep a clean sheet.
Now into a run of difficult games, starting with a big 6 pointer against Donny. They won today (although being 3-0 up they nearly three it away) and play their game in hand on Tues evening. Win next Saturday & we can then think about mid table obscurity.....
But they may have felt it was a free hit. Less pressure on them, in a way than, than if we’d been away at relegation rivals. Doesn’t mean that you’re not going to fight as if your lives depended on it. I think you’ve got the wrong end of the stick when it comes to the meaning of free hit.

On todays performance, its exactly what they've done
Has it been noticed/mentioned that today's referee, Darren Drysdale was the bloke who came close to walloping Alan Judge (Ipswich) a while back ? .. the moral is .. DO NOT mess with Darren D

Who was the third man in the technical area, I know it wasn’t Harry Lime but who was he? 🤔.
Just had a 'Keith' Addicks fan, calling R5 606, was that you ?

Who was the third man in the technical area, I know it wasn’t Harry Lime but who was he? 🤔. Subsequently found out that it was Glyn Shimell, goalkeeper coach https://www.cafc.co.uk/news/view/60d04c861cb4f/glyn-shimell-appointed-as-clubs-new-goalkeeper-coach
And then he booked the twat.

Flanagan got booked for dissent though
