Of course she could be serious but pull through. Let's hope so.
  • I suspect she has already died . All presenters are wearing black and are all but saying so.
Officially the announcement will be made ( if it has happened) at 6pm .
    I hope I’m wrong .

(I think I’m right in saying that the country will be in 12 days of mourning and all sporting events will be cancelled )
Sporting events being cancelled is at the discretion of the organisers per HM Government website
Two weeks put of the football season in this already bonkers World Cup year would cause absolute mayhem. Just an observation, I'm not saying it shouldn't happen
I agree - if the worst happens and she is so ill that she passes away today or tomorrow, I would not be surprised if the weekend football fixtures are postponed, but only Saturday, Sunday and Monday matches, after that back to normal
I'm not saying this is the right thing, but perhaps Her Majesty may have asked for life to carry on as normal outside of the funeral day itself. She may be bound by protocol, but she may not want a cancellation of normal life?

Quite possible - they have to plan their funerals themselves, hence why Prince Philip spent some time designing his Land Rover Defender hearse

Ive just seen the news and the main guy is wearing a black jacket and tie. Surely you wouldn’t wear a black tie because the queen is not very well? I‘m now just dreading the announcement.
  • Very surreal and sad if the worst does happen. The queen has been the one constant figurehead since forever

It's called old age not an illness per se  and after losing a partner after over seven decades of being together. At 96 the Queen has only really looked frail in the last 12 months after losing her Rock, Philip.

I'm not a Royalist but the Queen put a shift in and she did her duty. I can't see her record of longevity on the crown ever being beaten now and Victoria 63.7 years and George III 59.2 Years are 2nd and 3rd to Elizabeth II reign of over 70 years.

Very sad news, my mate messaged a few hours ago they were told by someone at sky news the queen has passed away, but cant say until a statement from the family. I've not posted this anywhere and person who told me this would not joke or spread any shit.

    RIP, reckon announcement at 6

PS- i really hope they are wrong, very sad news
  • Grrrr.... BBC need to piss off at the moment.

I dont like her, but they're having a proper dig at the Duchess of Sussex who hasn't travelled to Balmoral.

They made a side note that the Duchess of Cambridge hasn't travelled either, but that's because someone has to look after the kids - Press need to leave this sort of bullshit out of events for the time being!!.

    Sorry for the rant.
Wait til Piers Morgan finds out....

Not surprising, i feel like it's been fairly apparent for the past few hours since the mood changed with the news presenters and they came on wearing black, that she's already passed away.
  • The sort of figurehead that is irreplaceable.

The last few hours I’ve had people from India, USA in particular who I work with wanting to know what’s happening.

We’re talking about unarguably the most recognisable person in modern history. Surreal to think that the moment could be here, really.
  • Even the sign wearers are wearing black,😳,obvs the newsreaders don’t know yet if it’s happened or not as I’m sure one would have slipped up by now,I don’t think it’s right about the black & I think it’s in pretty bad taste till the announcement wether it’s today tomorrow or the next…
will be sad times whenever it’s made public, been a great servant to our country & dedicated her life serving us,Legend

  • One thing to bear in mind is that they are a family, just like our own families - albeit I know their lives are extremely different - if she has passed away, then the family need to be together first, and have their time together, before the rest of the world is told
Yes absolutely this, additionally there are protocols that constitutionally need to be followed prior to an announcement to the public, this will be a very co-ordinated process that will have been very much prepared for. I fully expect this announcement at 6 when most people will be home from work. I notice Huw Edwards has made way on the BBC coverage, I suspect to be briefed and final preparation for the announcement.
  • A year to the day my mother in law died. Sad times.
  • I’m watching BBC and they have filmed the family driving into Balmoral - now showing a freeze frame of Andrew and Edward in a Range Rover both looking very unhappy indeed - it’s awful isn’t it - at a time of great worry about your mother, the world is filming you

If that happened to me when I went to Darent Valley Hospital in 2017 knowing that my Dad was going to pass away within hours, I would have poleaxed the cameraman for intruding on a very personal moment in my life

I know they live their lives in the public eye, but that freeze frame was a bridge too far for me - inappropriate in the extreme
It was the "What does this image mean" bullshit they were coming out with.

I know they need to talk, and fill the void but cmon, the press equally need to draw a line at some stage.

Love how they occasionally come out with AFKA's: "Cmon guys..." with their "This is a Mother not just a queen" line - Its almost as if the BBC aren't the ones coming out with it themselves

    100% this.

I don't much care for the royal family, but HRH has put in many years of service to her nation. But they are just people, as human as anyone else... Let them have their moment.

that and nicholas witchells frankly bizarre and horrible gossiping about the queen's health earlier, I think they're going to get a lot of complaints about their coverage. I expected far better from the BBC on the possible death of our monarch.
