    Just noticed that.

    Ominous.

  • NEW: Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are travelling to Balmoral Castle. They were supposed to be doing a charity event in London this evening.

Yep. I am not really a royalist but I am crying at work.  Very veey sad.  You think I have only known the Queen from wgen I was born until today. History hapoening in front of our eyes. You knew it was coming but still hits ya
  • BBC One have suspended all regular programming until 6pm.
    Blimey.

Didn't think that would happen until the moment if/when its announced she's passed.

A bit of a strange one for me until it is - them asking Nicholas Witchell for any updates for hours on end isn't going to add much, and it feels a bit crass having a sort of 'deadline day' waiting for news someone might die.

Afterwards, I'd expect nothing else, obviously.
Agreed, it feels a bit unnecessary at this stage.
  • I'm a fan of the Queen if not the institution and for me this decision to cancel programs and wear black and all that to be really distasteful. Unfortunately we are in an age when everything has to be 24 hour news and reaction, even when there is nothing to say. Frankly it's verging on goulish, like they want to put a countdown clock on it or something. Thing is, journalists have been rehearsing for this for years and years and they have all got excited.

I suspect she probably already has.

BBC News all now in black as well. I really dont think there is long to go.
  • Got feeling it's already happened. All reporters wearing black & special news coverage
  • I think she has already passed

Maybe.  But I still think until it's announced it's a bit off.
  • This is terribly sad news, I hope her family are able to be with her if these are her final hours.

My best wishes and thoughts are with our Royal Family.

    You're probably correct.

Sadly I think you are right and they will wait until all the key royals are there before announcing formally - otherwise why the blanket BBC coverage and all in black

Would imagine that’s spot on. As idiotic as journalists can be, for something that’s been being rehearsed for decades, don’t imagine they’d do any of this unless they were told something definitive. Would have expected an announcement first but Lord knows what goes on behind the scenes of all this
  • I’m no monarchist but, if this is true, this is really awful news. Really hope she can pull through.

Everything is so shit at the moment.
  • This certainly seems to be very serious indeed - my thoughts are with her and the Royal Family

Operation London Bridge above is the standard procedure - You'll notice that one of the actions is for the BBC to dress in black, once its happened - Of course because she's in Scotland; Operation Unicorn comes into effect.

Always been intrigued by the pageantry and protocol of it all because it truly would be one of the most important events in world history

would it really be though? it might seem like that in the UK, but it's not going to have any real impact anywhere else. Not really going to have any impact here either

    Couple of Commonwealth Countries maybe;

Australia... Canada... New Zealand all have plans in place for when it happens

I think you will be surprised (unless of course you won't be surprised but here for the sport).
