Will we make the playoffs?

So I'll say it once again............got to score more goals. Defence is important but winning games by 3 or 4 is better than winning 2-0 (or 2-1 like on Monday)11 -
No we won't, but it won't be for lack of trying. I suspect that, at the end of the season when we look back at Jacko's time in charge it will be playoff form. But I think we just got started too late, and there are just too many teams in this division who fall under the "good, not great" category for us to overtake.1

100% yes2

Next 4 games are vital...all against teams vying for top 6.....it will start getting tight as the teams near the bottom will need to start winning and there may be some surprising results towards end of season but realistically I think our poor start has done us in1
-
I’m sure I’m biased and think we are better than we are, but I see us move the ball around sometimes and I just can’t get my head round we are still 13 points shy of 6th5
-
I do not think we will, but everyone is playing each other.
Today Oxford played Portsmouth for example. I was gutted that Oxford's late win had maintained the differential to the top six until I realised we had jumped over Pompey.
So as I see it now is that I want us to be closer to the playoffs than relegation. Atm we are 13 points off 6th place and 10 off the bottom 3. Lets reverse this before getting excited but at least we are in the top half now.0 -
Do I think we'll make the Play-Offs... No, we've left ourselves too much to do
Doesnt mean though that I wont hope that we'll make them6 -
Still think we’ll finish 8-12th , 8 - 10 points off the playoffs, whether that’s enough for JJ to have his contract extended , I hope so!0

This is still a poor squad and lets just hope we can get 16pts to get to 52pts then worry about our final league position.
I don't feel we need to "just hope" we can get 16 points to survive.
We're looking up the table, not down behind us. I'll stick with Jacko's mantra, "Let's win the next game ad see where it takes us".
It's title winning form for nearly half a season, its not impossible, but very unlikely.
How many of those 18 games are Inniss AND Aneke or Stockley going to play?
I want those points on the board to stay up before I relax. If we do that quickly any pressure evaporates and you never know but I don't want those winnable home games to turn into six pointers because I still don't trust some of our players.
Relegation? I know we're only 10 points clear with a massively superior goal difference, but really?
Being fearful is the major cause of failure.
Success in football is a state of mind. Believe, give it your best effort and you've got a chance.
My, nor yours, state of mind has anything to do with it.0 -

State of mind plays a big part in football, as we all know.
I was generalising, not being specific to any particular person.

Not quite out of the woods yet in terms of a relegation scrap but should have done enough by the start of March to start looking at the teams above us.
Not lose against Bolton, Oxford & MK Don's and we can dare to dream Rodders.2 -

What the Dickens ! It's a tale of two threads. We win and we are making top 6.
We lose a couple and we are getting relegated.
8th to 10th. Too many teams to catch but 22nd to 11th is impressive under JJ.

We'd need 36 points from 17 games. Very unlikely.10 games this season where we've been beaten by a margin of 1 goal, usually 0-1 or 1-2. If half of those had been draws we'd have a chance. Such is the divide between success and failure.0

From now until March 5th we have very difficult matches against very good teams. I think we will know by March 5th definitely whether we could make the playoffs.

Given the run we have now for the rest February and first game in March at Sunderland against a lot of sides in or around it Id say if we are to have any chance at all we probably need to do something like 12 to 15 points from those 6 matches if we manage that then I say have an outside chance.0

100%. Never in doubt.0

No but I know I’m looking at the table immediately at the end of each match … win the next 8 and I’ll belieeeeeeve !0

We would certainly have to put a special run together. Going back to Golfie's point of winning by comfortable margins more often, you could look back on Pompey and Wimbledon and say that if luck had moved a little against us, we wouldn't have won. Expecting luck to run against us at times we need less of these games going forwards and more comfortable victories. Yes, we will need luck too but we can't be over reliant on it.
Jacko reckons Stockley is close to a return and we have decent cover, the bench was pretty strong yesterday, so if that stays the same, we can't rule out improving.2 -
The February and March rearranged fixtures will make or, most likely, break most teams in this division. Charlton’s squad is actually looking quite strong atm and we should be one of those teams that can capitalise on the 12 games over these two months. Yesterday was a good start.4

When we all look back at the end of the season it will be games like Fleetwood,Cheltenham and Crewe that will stick out. 4 points out of 9 points won is what will stick out. Those three games on the spin we would expect 3 wins before this season started.
I would expect us to fall short ,once again not having learned from our mistakes of last season.

Charlton 16/1 for play offs. Bolton 18/1. Fancy one of the two to go really close. Starting to think we will miss out by a couple of points.1
-
Win Tuesday to keep the run going and we will start reeling the teams above us in. Eternal optimism as always from me perhaps but I still think we can do it2
-
Win the next two and I might start believing.1
