We’re 13 points behind Wycombe, with a worse goal difference. If we were in seventh place I’d think we might have a chance, except that I think Wycombe are possibly better than us.
Trouble is, Wednesday, Plymouth, Ipswich and Bolton are above us, and I can’t see none of them staying there.

I hate to get all petty on you, but their GD is 8 goals better than ours. In order to overturn a 13 point deficit, we’d need to win 4 and draw 1 while they lose 5. That would mean a minimum of a 9 goal swing so, while I agree the prospect of overhauling them is extremely unlikely, the goal difference is not a factor in this at all. 😎
No way as we are still a work in progress and I don't need any more memories of play off finals personally; I don't want that tainted.
Much rather we go up in 1st or 2nd place next season when we thank Watson, Gunter, Pearce, ( staying as coach and should still be number 5, CB) and at least 6 others, who don't even make the bench. We try to promote some of the U23, Deji, Kanu(probably sold without making debut) and who ever our coaches feel can step up.
How we attract players to Cafc in the 3rd tier unless they have flaws or we take a punt on a player from lower down is anyone's guess.

You’re right. *Doffs hat*.
Even if we did that there’s always a chance of one of those other clubs getting one more point than us.
It's also the hope that keeps you going, the month of February will be defining in our final position, and I can see us doing well in that month...playoffs?...sure why not, we have to play a lot of teams above us, so it should be within our grasp...

Regardless of points required and games played blah blah blah....if we win tonight and Oxford fail to get a result and we then beat Oxford at home, they will be looking over their shoulder!! It is a big if but not beyond the realms!
We need to win 13 of the last 17 to have any chance
13 wins would be guaranteed play-offs, barring a crazy year where it takes 80+ to make the top six.
To get to 75 (enough in each of the last ten seasons), we need:
12 wins (5 losses) 11 wins & 3 draws (3 losses) 10 wins & 6 draws (1 loss)
Numbers look virtually impossible. Anything fewer than 4 points from Bolton & Wigan and is definitely over for me.
Two draws from what is likely to be our toughest week of the season keeps us in it. We’d have to back it up with wins against Oxford and MK Dons at the Valley.

Would love for it to happen, but I don’t see it happening IMO. I do think we will finish above Plymouth which would have been unthinkable back when we played them in November.

Is it just me that thinks 12 wins are more than possible ? ( get ready for the high numbers of yes replies lol )
We have extremely difficult fixtures and haven’t shown anything to suggest we’re capable of delivering that sort of form.
We’re one little knock to Dobson/Washington/Aneke away from getting pulled back into the bottom half dogfight.
I agree with your comment on injury risk etc but I'm always more confident when we play what should be tough teams, with this group of players as they seem to play far better, it is when we play teams we should easily beat we seem to struggle so perhaps a run of difficult fixtures is what we need. Saying that lose tonight and I may change my opinion lol

That's pretty important for us Addicks deep down in the South West.

Yeah I completely agree, we seem to prefer playing teams that come at us and take more risks. I just don’t think we’ve got it in us make up a 13 point gap - has anything like that ever been done at this stage of the season?

It would be pretty special wouldnt it. The next few games will be telling, if we can get 7 points from the next 3 I think we can start believing, 6 maybe, any less then build for next season in League One

It would be a historic league one tale and like no other.
Jeff stelling would certainly inform the studio with some of his football miracle enthusiasm

Think we will get close and finish 8th.
Every time somebody parrots that phrase, it reminds of that vacuum headed berk.
Jacko says win the next game and see where it takes us.
That's the whole point of any season. That's where the fun is.
