I have had all three jabs and the flu jab. I tried for several hours a couple of weeks ago to put the NHS appliance on my mobile telephone and failed. It seemingly works for others, but easy and intuitive it is not. What one ‘obviously’ does is not obvious, and a button by button step by step guide in simple traditional language is not available. One doesn’t ‘just’ have to do this that or the other it would help me and possibly others if it was simpler. Like search Google on your internet telephone for the NHS appliance. Then a great big red button appears which says ‘press this and you will have a Covid passport on your mobile telephone’. (maybe you put your name and address in a simple form before pressing the button) Then a great big red button called ‘Vaccine Passport’ appears on the main screen of the mobile telephone. That might be helpful to people.
But the app is 'World Beating'. Johnson said so...
It is farcical. I've just done one and you don't even upload a picture of the test. The NHS site asks you what the test result was and when you say it's negative, they send you an email and text saying it's negative. No medical personnel review your test.
Very different to Germany and Italy where everyone's test is viewed or scanned as you go in.
Negative LFT test is also fine, which makes it all ridiculous and a massive noise about nothing.
How will this be checked? It only makes sense if it's done at the venue.
Vaccines or a negative test will get you the covid pass (a QR code). You will have to present the pass at a venue. Either a hard copy or on your mobile. It will say whether you are vaccinated or tested negative. The pass has an expiry date and will have to be renewed regularly (monthly?) I assume this means if your are not vaccinated you will have to get regular tests.
I have finally been able to put the NHS appliance on my Apple mobile telephone. It has seriously taken that long (on and off). I have got a blue square saying NHS and hit that. You have to then put in your email, then a password and get a black box with loads of blobs. You can hit an arrow that takes you to your vaccination status which says what jabs you have had and that it expires on January 15th. Mrs P says take a screenshot of the blob and have it in pictures because every time you hit the blue square you have to enter your email address and password. If it is in your photos it is easier she says. Taking a screenshot is impossible because it says hit the button on the left hand side which does not exist! I want to be able to hit the blue NHS square and immediately the square blob screen appears without any other faff.

They are very trusting....we do lateral flow tests fairly regularly (mother in law is in a care home), that said if we were positive we would naturally do the right thing and stay well away.

Take a screenshot on your iPhone
Press the Side button and the Volume up button at the same time.
Quickly release both buttons.
After you take a screenshot, a thumbnail appears temporarily in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen. Tap the thumbnail to open it or swipe left to dismiss it.

I hope this helps.
Many thanks. It turns out the side button is a non screen physical thing that is the on/off button. Up till now my volume control has been swiping down from the top right hand part of the screen, and you get a big white slidey up and down volume control on the actual screen. Sheesh I hope all the faffing is worth it.

A public health measure that relies on the honesty of the person to report their test result in pretty useless. Although a vaccinated person is better protected than a non vaccinated person, it doesn't stop them passing on the virus, so proof of having had a vaccine isn't going to help stop the spread of Omicron. Anyone attending a big event should be made aware that they are still at risk of getting the virus.
A supervised test for everyone would be a much safer way of holding such events.
Carlisle United have followed Lincoln City in capping their stadium capacity at 9,999, which is below the threshold for the government's 'Plan B' outdoor event Covid passport requirements. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59668147

any in house IT development the Govt/NHS/Quango is involved in costs 10 times (estimate) what it would cost the private sector and even if it works, is usually far too complex and unwieldy
The Covid NHS Pass is now mandatory for entry into venues with large crowds. The new measure is part of the Government’s Plan B, which aims to slow the spread of Covid-19.
Plan B, which has been implemented as cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 are rising rapidly, also includes mandatory face masks or coverings in an additional range of indoor public spaces and encourages people to work from home where possible.
The introduction of the additional restriction comes after MPs voted in favour of the Covid certification requirement on Tuesday. While the majority of MPs have supported the use of Covid passes, night time venues have warned that their introduction could damage business, especially in the lead up to Christmas.
Here is what the NHS Covid Pass is and where people need to use it.
What is the NHS Covid Pass?
The NHS Covid Pass is the official way to demonstrate your Covid-19 vaccination status. It allows people to show how many Covid-19 vaccinations they have had, including booster jabs, and also whether or not they have recently tested negative for Covid-19.
It can be used for entry to domestic venues and events as well as for international travel.
There are a number of ways people can obtain an NHS Covid Pass. The main way is via the free NHS App or online via NHS.UK. This digital version of the pass can be quickly updated with test results and vaccinations.
For people who are not able to access the NHS App or prefer non-digital means, a letter can be sent via post. There are separate letters for travel abroad and entry to domestic public spaces.
The NHS Covid Pass is valid for 30 days at a time, but if you are proving your Covid-19 status via a lateral flow test, this test result is only valid for 48 hours.

I think its clear that nothing is going to stop Omicron now until it burns through the population, which won't take very long at the rate it is growing everywhere.
I was very impressed with the Covid pass checks at Plymouth, plenty of stewards, very friendly & helpful & there seemed to be hardly any delays for fans entering the stadium. I will be shocked if the pass checking is anywhere near as efficient at the next home game.

For now, two Covid jabs are sufficient, but Health Secretary Sajid Javid has said in future people will also need a booster dose to generate a valid Covid pass and be considered “fully vaccinated”.
