Match Thread: Charlton Athletic vs Fleetwood Town | Saturday 22nd January 2022

edited January 2022 in General Charlton
Much improved Fleetwood are the visitors today. Our 4 League games without a win is not looking too impressive by comparison.

We really need to get back to winning ways. Stockley is still absent but too soon for Lavelle's return. Touch and go whether Washington is involved today.
Even though there are questions over his match fitness, new loan signing from Chel$ki, Juan Castillo could be added to the squad.

Charlton: MacGillivray; Clare, Inniss (c), Famewo; Jaiyesimi, Morgan, Dobson, Lee, Blackett-Taylor; Burstow, Aneke

Subs: Henderson, Pearce, Purrington, Watson, Gilbey, Leko, Washington

Let's get the show on the road lads with an entertaining 3 points, and also welcome back Curbs into the fold to keep Scott company, should be a nice welcome back to The Valley for Jim Melrose as well, COYR..
  • Huge day for Players I Like To Defend. Jackson's starting all of 'em. Gonna be either feeling extremely smug or extremely anguished at half-time
  • Wodyerreckonfolks?
  • Like Innis as captain, don't like how Lee has become undroppable.

Midfield is lightweight, but surely we've got enough to deal with the cod army

CBT ahead of Purrington has to be a positive move

Or maybe I'll just blame Morgan for everything ;)
  • Purrington really has fallen back out of favour again hasn't he.

Dont really recall him doing much wrong in recent weeks
If you don’t attempt anything positive , you can’t do a lot wrong
  • Josh Davison has been out on his own for a while: naughty step or fitness test?

Completely agree. No idea why the others are being chosen ahead of him. 1 left footer in the whole team and he's the weakest passer we have!
  • MacKeeper's back

Apart from being one of our few non-Striker goal scorers...
  • Can I be the 1st to say this must be Morgan’s last chance!!!😂#zeroconfidenceprovemewrong!!!.
  • I mean I can’t see why myself, but has to be reason why that’s 3 managers in a row who have dropped him.

Though I thought he had a knock this time around?
  • Josh Davison been doing some running drills on the pitch, so he's certainly still part of the matchday squad at present.

Jacko making a statement that he wants proper wingbacks.

Especially by then picking CBT to play there.
  • good to see Mac back in goal.

He's got 3 goals - the same as Davison.

  • The calm before the, err, calm:

You got here before me then

Are you right at the back of the North Stand with three others?

More to do with today's gameplan, I would think.

Certainly, by including CBT, it's to introduce pace down the left flank.
The role eventually pencilled in soon for the new Chelsea kid?

Says a lot about our midfielders.

but he's not named on the bench? surely to be a part of the match day squad you actually have to be in the match day squad?
  • Not impressed with the line up but there are options on the bench.

I've always presumed a few extras usually turn up in case of last minute issues - eg when someone falls ill there is always someone else to step in.

Imagine Davison will be gone by the end of the transfer window, but seeing he's still a distant option, I guess nothing is close to happening for him elsewhere.
  • One of DJs biggest fans but not quite sure how he's keeping his spot

    It's a strong bench.

he’s got into some good positions and scored a few goals a few weeks ago .  But he offers nothing as an out ball which I part of the reason why we’ve become so predictable .

    Evidently Johnnie et al agree.
