Aren't many recent players playing at a similar/higher level is there?

We signed an awful lot of players with very little upside. Small can be added to those two but "playing" is probably a bit of a loose term in respect of the only other one I can think of and that is Blackett-Taylor.
Another one of our former players, whose career has fallen off a cliff. Still only 30.
He joined Dundee played a couple of games got MOM in one then got an injury that made him miss the rest of the season ..he got released and had to go through the summer in rehab and getting himself fit … also SF opened up a soccer school for youngsters …. wish him all the best trying to get his career back on track .

True, though he wasn't bad when he first joined us. Got 9 league goals in his first full season with us, but was a shadow of that in the next season.
In that year Fraser played as a 10, the same season Morgan played as an 8 and still had a better G/A ratio per 90 than him. The truth is as soon as he got a big contract from Ipswich and us he just stopped caring about football only ever tried when it benefitted himself

Didn't he get covid? That could have something to do with his decline. Some people suffering from long covid, he may have a version of it, not as bad as some though.
