Difficult to understand why there is a gap of 30 days for England matches and why we have no Ashes Test in August, when all the kids are off, isn't it. Why would anyone want to inspire them to play for England when you can inspire them to play for the Welsh Fire!
Not a very "diverse" set of fixtures either, we seem to have played NZ every summer in one format or another for years. 12:30 is a strange time for those ODIs to start, a day night fixture without much play in the evening,

probably because of the test championship, where we play nations that are at a similar level to us, rather than weaker sides.

Sitting in the dark & chilly September evenings watching cricket, no thanks.

Then why not start all the ODIs at 11am? I don't see the benefit of starting a few 1.5 hours later

Do the decision makers think they'll sell more tickets, as people will buy to come later or are TV revenues better in the evening as more people watching? Either way, the spectators will be bloody chilly, unless they are wrapped up with decent jackets/coats.

discovery of the white ball season ? .. Luke Wood .. a star in the Hundred .. a modern bowler with real pace and variations, a leftie and like namesake Mark and the Cullen Bros, not very tall but skiddy and on the right surface, very difficult to play .. pity is it's VERY unlikely he'll ever play test Cricket
Duckett batted very well for his 43 off 22. As a left hander, he is a viable alternative to Malan at 3
he's a differnt player to malan though, loves his big shots duckett - not a player to guide it through the gaps and keep the score ticking like malan and root do very well.

A 5 match Ashes series all done by the end of July. Kids have 6 weeks off school & no Ashes matches to watch. Oh, but they can watch a 100 ball match which is not played anywhere else on the planet. It's a bit like VHS v Betamax. And the ECB are backing Betamax.
A real talent who plays proper cricket shots. He has the look of an Indian sub continent batsman who, from a very early age, has been coached to play straight and then added the bigger and more extravagant shots on to that. Which is why, unlike the Hales and Roys of the world, he can play red and white ball.

That's not the case though. The major criticism of Malan in T20 has always been that he gets stuck in the Power Play and doesn't rotate. His strike rate eventually catches up if he stays in long enough for that to happen. Duckett, on the other hand, can play both sides of the wicket especially against spin which allows him either to hit a boundary or to get off strike. This series:
Malan - 34 off 31 balls at a strike rate of 109.68 with 16 dot balls (51.61% dots to total balls) Duckett- 134 off 81 balls at a strike rate of 165.43 with 13 dot balls (16.05% dots to total balls)

Hales out
Malan bowled behind his legs again.
Moeen with a superb 55 off 23
All 5 batsmen were bowled. That doesn't happen too often.
