  • Any word from Golfie about the terrible over rate yet?
  • Test match cricket at it's best, brillant England
  • That was amazing, what a test match. Almost the perfect test. Helped by a decent track and helpful fielding.
  • The perfect Test would have featured a bowling comeback at the end tbf, but I'm a perfectionist

England won with an incredible batting performance by Bairstow and Stokes - so he is pissed off that he can’t have a moan about us losing - usual rules …..
  • Well done Bairstow!

Good to see 3 different batsmen getting centuries in a match for us, can't remember the last time that's happened?
Asked a mate this question earlier. Haven't looked into but the best we could come up with was tour officials inn2013 I think when Cook KP and Bell all got tons.
  • Draw still very much possible. One of these two out within the first five overs, the other out about 10 overs later. Foakes and the tail see 110 required from 20, go defensive and see out the last 20 overs for a draw.

If Bairstow and Stokes can last 20+ overs, it's in our hands. If the Kiwis have them both early, it's going to be a difficult 30+ overs for the tail.
It’s time for you to go up the mountain with a tablet Callumcafc 😄
  • Was at work so gutted to miss the final day after watching quite a chunk of the first 4 days. Just caught the highlights and was some batting display. Have to admit I have no idea what the New Zealand bowlers were playing at after tea, especially the short pitch stuff. I still think England would have won and won't take much away from Bairstow or Stokes but they were gifted a chunk of runs too.
  • This lot deserve to be above the football team in the chat tonight. The game had everything. Hate the fact that our tail well and truly starts at 8, Leach's bowling isn't worth that sacrifice currently, I'd frankly rather promote Lawrence there. But it's churlish to moan, the spirit was everything today.

  • Just watched the highlights again on IPlayer.  Still can't quite believe it, what a run chase.

The change in mentality from the new captain & coach has allowed our naturally attacking players to thrive.

There will be times when this approach doesn't work, but the next couple of years will be fun to watch
  • Draw or NZ win
    We won’t chase this
    Beyond clueless
  • Bairstow hasn't been in great red ball form, you have to wonder what the fifth day tea time talk was. I guess if theres McCullum and Stokes saying encouraging you to attack, you're going to
  • Just proves what a negitive impact Silverwood was having around the place! Just total different mindset..

Class yesterday! Test cricket is the best form of cricket.

It's a curio that for one reason or another England have gone from a side packed with all rounders to play at 7 or 8 - Woakes, Curran, Moeen etc - to a team where the tail starts at 8.

india have shown that as long as you bat positively that doesn't matter.

I was watching it after tea on the hotel balcony until literally I lost the connection just at the last knockings ffs.

    What a test match 🤩🏏♥️
  • great batting performance .. BUT, I am going to throw a cup of cold water on the last innings .. the Kiwis had just 3 fit pace bowlers and a novice spinner .. Bairstow is safe until he retires (aged 60?) .. Lees and Pope have come good .. Crawley got a near unplayable ball in the 1st Inns but his place must be in danger .. though an unchanged team for a 'dead rubber' might be the call

Prior to his last three Tests, he scored centuries in back-to-back Test matches. That's not bad form!
  • Bracewell has tested positive. There's enough time before the next Test so that he could still play, if well enough
  • Root is definitely in my all time England 11, just counting players I've seen (live or on TV)
England best of my lifetime XI:

    Atherton
    Cook (c)
    Gooch
    Root
    Pietersen
    Stokes
    Stewart (wk)
    Flintoff
    Swann
    Anderson
    S Jones
If you need to bore the opposition to death, you can’t beat Chris Tavare at No. 3.
  • I am not sure what you were watching but that was clearly not Cricket as I have known it.  I think we need to apologise to NZ for not playing the game.
  • I think you need to pick up your Papers Pickwick
  • Jamie Overton replaces Matt Parkinson in the squad for 3rd test.

parkinson really mustve pissed in some ones cereal...

Parkinson must be gutted to find out that he's been replaced by someone who has never bowled spin in his life
  • Jamie is a left armer isn't he?
