I like the look of the balance of the side in this one dayer v Netherlands. Curran in for Morgan gives an extra bowling option but with Moeen and Curran and Willey it really doesn't weaken the batting. particularly against this side. Maybe its a balance more suited to T20's but either way I like it. Starting to look like the end for Morgs. Not sure if he will do enough to stay in the side for the t20 world cup.

Test side announced. Overton in for the injured Jimmy. Stokes plays and Leach is still there so assuming Stokes is able to bowl. The rumours going round Surrey this week were that Stokes couldn't bowl so Craig would also be coming in for Leach.

Also just noticed that T20 finals day is on the same day as an England ODI. Bit of a farce if the best players in the country aren't available for the biggest day of the domestic season! Perhaps England can be creative with their selection and use their depth to pick players from the counties not involved in finals day!

I haven't checked but I am happy to have a "blind" bet that there isn't a clash with an England game for the final of The Hundred. The ECB are happy to undermine a County Final but wouldn't dare do that for their showpiece event would they?

I like the balance that it gives you 6 bowlers and batting depth but I am a bit concerned about the quality of the bowling.  It obviously doesn't matter in this series, Willey just picked up a 4for, but against the top teams in India?  I am not sure if we will take enough wickets.

I know there are a lot of injuries, and a test series, so this won't be the world cup attack but it won't be as strong as the world cup winning one.

Agreed, I was viewing this as a largely 2nd XI and hope we have our  first choice quicks available for the world cup perhaps without Archer.

I am a fan of Brydon Carse tho, potential to do the role in ODI's that Plunkett did for us. We suddenly seem to have loads of left armers in the one day squads with Curran and Willey being joined by Topley, Carse, Payne and with Garton in the wings.

Checking the schedule, not the same day (so fine for Sky) but right in the middle of a minor England series against er India!

    England vs India
    T20s - 7,9,10 July
    ODIs - 12,14,17 July

    T20 blast
    Knockout - 6,8,9 July
    Finals day - 16 July

Farcical really, and a direct clash between the India T20 series and the knockout stage too.

Ecb want t20 blast to die so they can claim they were justified in creating the hundred. Farcical.

Don’t expect things to change any time soon, I remember rob key speaking at my cricket clubs end of year dinner and he was saying how incredible sky is for the game because of all the money. It’s completely decimated interest in the game.

  • There's an article on BBC sport website about whether Morgan should step aside as limited overs captain.  Ludicrous to even discuss it in my opinion.

He's the best captain in international cricket & there's enough talent in the team to carry him through a bad spell. He should carry on as captain for as long as he wants it

Can Butler engineer a ton here?  If he gets all the runs we need he would be on 98.

26 off the over, including a ball bowled like I haven't seen since I was a kid.

That 6 from Buttler was amazing, and then to plant that 6 off the free hit as straight as you'll ever see

I see Klaassen only went at 6 an over. A shame he couldn't have done that this week for Kent!

The Kiwi bowling looks thin as they're playing an extra batsman. Only 3 seamers plus Bracewell and part time spinners

Apologies for changing the subject, but are there any decent nets local to Bexley/Greenwich/Dartford that are open to the public either walk-on or book? I know there are some on Bostall Heath but they're usually busy.

Think someone needs to fire Jamie Overton up and get him to bowl at 90mph plus by showing him the Sky caption that was shown when he came on to bowl as "Right Arm Fast Medium"

He looks a bit "heavy" to me.
