Jamie Overton replaces Matt Parkinson in the squad for 3rd test.
Didn't he knock his brother, and someone else, out last week?
Yep, Craig and then Josh Davey both concussed. Been a decent bowler for a while now with pace but could be a bit erratic. This year he's been an absolute revelation and his accuracy and consistency has been excellent. He puts it down to a shortened run up instigated by Azhar Mahmood who is surrey assistant coach. While he has that pace he also is a thinking bowler, can get swing and seam movement and can set a batsman up.
Hes developing into a proper allrounder not just a lower order hitter- I think Surrey tweeted he's averaging 53 this year with the bat- not sure if that's just champ or includes T20 where he's had a number for not outs, but even still he's reliable. We've been batting him 5 and not bowling him that much in T20s.
Will he play ahead of Leach if Stokes isn't fit to bowl? Or maybe ahead of Potts if they want a point of different bowler. Or are there concerns about Broad or Andersons fitness?
Yep - against a county 2nd XI bowling attack on a road. Some of these Dutch players haven't played a single First Class game. Their best white ball bowler is playing for Kent today. Says it all. Sigh.
Presumably a fun away trip for the Barmy Army though!
Agreed but perhaps the Netherlands not having Klaassen because he's playing for Kent and also van der Merwe at Somerset, whereas that's not the case for England's players, is a reflection of where the power lies in the respective countries.
So what you are saying is how dare the Netherlands, play against the mighty England
That is absolutely NOT what I am saying. What I am saying is:
(1) Why are the Netherlands putting out such an under strength side and allowing their players to play in The Blast when England are showing respect to the fixture in not doing that?
(2) That there is no "value" whatsoever to runs scored in this game. The bowling is not even of County standard, on a road and at a postage stamp, in areas, of a ground.
So am I - but that is more to his continued backing of that Mickey Mouse comp. He will probably come out in the post match conference with something like "it doesn't matter who you are playing, you have to get the job done and this Netherlands side have got some very good players".

This is an absolute joke of a game.
