  • Just been out for a nice ride on my mobility scooter down to Shanklin beachfront. Was a bit disappointed at how many people pointed and laughed at me. Then I remembered I was wearing my Charlton hat.
They probably assumed you were our star centre forward!
No the word mobility was used, can’t be our centre forward!!😂

Just sat through the Quest EFL show. Two things:
    1. How many long throws resulting in goals were there!? Loads! Even in the Championship.
    2. Our goal celebration after Stockley’s pen was the least convincing in the whole programme. That’s worrying.
Number 2 is no surprise really which epitomises the effort and teamwork on show.  As a prime example, just look at the picture of when he is talking the penalty, not one of his teammates are busting a gut to follow up in case there is a rebound, one of our guys appears to be standing still with his hands on his hips.
  • The only difference between their first goal and those my Sunday pub team used to concede, was the lack of dog shit on the pitch.
I know it didn’t seem like it but our players were actually on the pitch.

Lol, I actually read the first post to mean exactly that, i.e. there was no dog shit on his Sunday League team’s pitch

Went 1 up courtesy of a lucky pen ( which wasnt a pen ) conceded an equaliser which quite frankly belonged on a Sunday league pitch. Went a goal down by once again allowing a player to cut inside and not showing him outside. Never really looked like scoring just like the last 6 games. Consistently playing players out of position. 30 odd minutes playing against 10 men and they looked more likely to score than we did. Kept to the plan of just hit it long and hope to win the 2nd ball which we hardly ever do.
So boring and obviously no plan to try and reverse the situation other than to keep doing the same shit.

Lose Tuesday and JJ needs to be gone Wednesday morning otherwise league two is calling loud and clear
We win on Wednesday, how long would you then give Jackson?
  • What's up with Henderson and Harness who were both missing yesterday? Either could realistically replace McG on Tuesday in goal, but no way will Harvey be given the gloves

Henderson is no better, he shipped awful goals in the games he played.
Indeed but the back 3/4/5 might have a bit more confidence in a keeper who’s not stuck on his line and will come and claim crosses plus control his 18 yard box.

Henderson is injured (calf I think, haven't got details of the extent of it though) and Harness was ill

    Thanks

Hendo being injured isn't exactly a surprise...

I bet you any money we don't win on Wednesday.
That may be so.  I was not saying we were.

Even with a calf injury Hendo would still be more likely to come off his line for crosses than MacKeeper.

If Hendo had his leg amputated he'd still be collecting more crosses than the current no. 1.

Don't offer that bet to our Ozzie lifers, they may just take you up on it.. B)
  • What utterly stumps me is that when Jacko was caretaker the results were coming in. He got the job on that basis. So what, apart from being permanently appointed, is the difference?  Sure there have been injuries (you’d expect a few more further through the season) but there hasn’t been that much change to the squad.
The only thing I can think of us that the squad played for Jacko to get him the gig, but have gone back to not giving a shit like they did for Adkins. Which kinda points to something else going on behind the scenes - although what that could be is even bigger speculation than this point.
I suspect if we have a total clearout in the summer we will know one way or the other.
  • One difference is he lost his strikers. Then the next is, the team lost confidence which will affect us as the strikers return. It hasn't helped that Jacko has kept playing two up front when quite simply if you like two up front or not, you can't if you haven't got anybody decent to play there. But if you rely too much on your front men to get the goals and you lose them, whatever you do you struggle.

Then there is the defence. That has fallen apart completely.

Personally I don't think its that the players don't give a shit.

I think they were running out of their skin during his caretaker period, but that was unsustainable and they ran out of steam.

Now, they've lost faith in his tactics, lost confidence in themselves, and have very little to play for.

Pretty sure he's alienated loads of players:
    - centre backs that weren't getting a game behind others playing in their position
    - wingers who can't play in their favored position so is stalling their careers
    - and players on the peripheral that have read between the lines they aren't getting their contracts renewed

  • How did Accrington striker Bishop play. Thought he look a useful players in both games last season ?
  • In retrospect, the thing that's most disturbing about defeats against teams like Accrington isn't that it's "soft Southern skilful footballers bullied by dirty Northern bastards" as that would imply we had the better players and were dragged down to their level by rough tactics, a howling wind, soft referee, boggy pitch etc

Not only are we being outbattled, our football is worse as well. How many moments of individual brilliance have we produced in recent weeks, or passages of brilliant passing and movement to tear opposition defences apart, or clever set pieces?

If I have the right player he always seemed to hold of the centre half, bring the ball down and lay the ball off. I was impressed and he did exactly what we couldn't do.

Remember last season I was incredibly impressed with Charles, Bishop and Pritchard. Three players I keep an eye on as I hoped they would come to Charlton.
