The decisions on Davison and Washington are completely unrelated. Davison is young, scored 9 in 21 in league two and is probably on low wages. He won’t be playing for us because he is not good enough but there is minimal financial risk in retaining him to see if you can get a fee for him. Worst case you loan him out again. Washington decision is based on whether you can get a better replacement at forward. I would have preferred that we retained him as squad depth but my guess he is on higher wages and may not be accepting of a reserve role at this point in his career
Davison has just scored 9 in 21 for Swindon. At 22, I don't think he will have a problem finding a League 2 club. Finding one who is willing to pay for him might be more difficult.
Maybe Jacko will try pull a favour and get him at AFC?
It's not about your abilities with the dog and duck pub team we are talking about Ben Purrington who strangely enough was one of the success stories when JJ first took over and played 3-5-2; even scoring and getting into goal scoring positions. His main weakness I see was his lack of pace to get back which is a liability if not covered by LCB.
Happy 26th birthday to Ben Purrington and Lewis Page (who was cursed when at Cafc)
Johnny Williams might be available now Swindon haven't gone up.......
Josh Davison as well who I thought was poor tonight. He seemed to thumb or push a Vale defender in the head and merely got lectured. He rolled around in agony every time he was tackled which was often because of a poor first touch. He looked generally clumsy to be honest and his penalty was woeful.
Think our plan to extend his contract so we can get a fee for him might have took a knock last night .. but Swindon might still want him in league two
Most Swindon fans don't seem to want him

Accept that it's not the best research method but just on Twitter

We've retained Davison and let Washington go. I don't understand that.
We dont know the offer though... It could well be 50p per week which he can then refuse - If he then moves to another club, we get compensation.
That there is the logic in "attempting" to renew
You have to offer at least as much as they were on previously. Unless JD was on 50p per week then us offering that would not trigger a payment to us under compensation.

We’ve activated an optional extension so he’s now under contract with us for another year.
We did what you’ve described with Fosu, but I believe you’re only able to get compensation if the new offer is equal or above the existing contract value.

Heard all that last summer......and then we went into the new season with no fit left back & letting a striker leave (Schwartz) after the window had shut, therefore effectively leaving us short up front.
I predict that no one will come in for Davison & he will start the new season after Aneke gets injured in pre-season.
For people moaning about lack of transfers well it’s the same for everyone Matt Taylor talking about Exeter
“I see this month going slowly and frustratingly, like it always does. Everyone will be talking about getting their budgets aligned and other play-off teams finishing off their season and so on and so forth – and even the managerial merry-go-round that is happening at other clubs can affect it as well.
“So I don’t see much happening this month, I think we have to be patient and things will start happening towards the end of June, like they always do, so I think we have to be realistic in terms of what we can obtain and achieve.”
Think Davison missing the 5th and important pen as generated the response from the Swindon fans if he had scored it would have been the hero … that’s the modern day social media football fan … Dobson and Clare were the worst two players ever to wear a Charlton shirt etc etc yet who got first and second in the POTY vote ?
If we are looking to pick up a couple of injury prone 30+ centre halves to reinstate our usual squad profile direction... step forward Chey Dunkley and Sam Hutchinson both released by Sheffield Wednesday today...

I think the “mouth gate” incident with Johnnie Jackson upset TS enough for him to instruct that Washington wasn’t retained.
