I like TS and appreciate everything he has done for the club, but If we are really haggling over 10s of thousands of pounds and that is the hold up we are in trouble and he needs to get a grip
Imagine having a go at someone for not just binning off tens of thousands of quid of his own money because you want the manager to start two days earlier in a period where the players are on holiday. THROW THE AMOUNT OF YOUR MONEY I CHOOSE AT MY HOBBY MUSIC MAN
I’m not trying to make an impatient point here but if you’d of told me this time last month Jackson will make his first signing in a new job before we named his successor I wouldn't of believed it.
Nearly 5 weeks, and people defend it. Total circus.
I’m defending or attacking it, it’s just a little surprising to me, but if his tactic is to make sure it’s the absolute right one then so be it.
Doesn't take a semi competent league one club 5 weeks to appoint a manager, in the off season.
Why though? What’s wrong with negotiating a deal to suit us as well as them, if I could drag the purchase of something expensive out to save a few quid I probably would, it’s not critical right now, I’ll admit I was nervous but I don’t see why haggling over compensation makes us incompetent.
Because we fucked up last season due to our inactivity all summer and lack of preparation. Jackson has been sacked nearly 5 weeks ago, seemingly without any sort of succession plan as we still have no manager on June 7th.
Since Jackson has left, he's gone on holiday, interviewed for / got a new job, and made his first signing.
Fleetwood sacked their manager May 4th, they have a new manager in place and have already made their first signing.
I get all that but you know full well we have a plan as at today, they’re obviously cross t’s and dotting i’s. I get all the frustration and I’m with you, but I think some are getting too panicked, there’s so so much time to get this summer right, the players aren’t even in the building.
I’ll fully agree with you “if” we end up with a shit squad and are looking at deadbeats come midnight deadline day. But for now I’m happy to see if he’s leant from last season.
I dunno mate, 7 & a half weeks until the first game of the season doesn’t seem like a lot of time when we need 7/8 players for the first xi + x amount as squad players.
Fair point but that’s where we’ll probably disagree. Im not saying he will get it right I'm saying there is plenty of time and chances to get it right.
Plenty?
What so any side who hasn’t made a signing at this point doesn’t have much time?
I don't care for any other club, just this one. For the job we needed to do before the end of the season, I didn't think we had plenty of time. Looks like another wasted season. Unless there is around 12 rabbits about to be pulled from a hat!
You can make comparisons whilst still only caring for one club.
Its 7th June there’s loads of time to sign loads of players.
9 days till the lads back in training 😂
Yes. Which is why there’s loads of time to sign players, or did you think clubs sign absolutely everyone before their first day back?
This season was gonna do things early 🤣 Learn from mistakes. But it's all good you think there is loads of time 👍
This long and continued drawn out saga to sign a new manager has really dented my trust is TS, especially as I think back to the start of last season when we recruited Adkins and TS stated in the background we are always identifying our next potential manager - hmm that didn’t happen with JJ and now TS had identified to get rid of JJ without having a succession plan - echos cries of lies and as loyal Charlton fans we will not have our trust tested to the brink especially after all circus 🎪 of owners we have had in the recent past - IF YOU ARE LISTENING SANDGAARD - DO NOT PUSH US !
I mean it's not impossible Martin/Thomas Sandgaard found that list of stats Swindon finished top of and based it off that. The ownership isn't subtle. But then again I don't necessarily think that was a bad way of going about (part of) the search - he'd still have had to interview and go against other candidates etc

So we assume we approached Swindon and that Garner / his agent didn’t put themselves forward after he sacked JJ?
I can’t help but wonder who else is offering suggestions to TS on the football side even if informally.
It's been a week today since JJ got sacked, and TS should have made an appointment by now.
The fact that he hasn't shows that it was a petulant, unplanned, ill-thought out sacking.
I'm curious as to why you think this.
I literally just said this to someone.
When Roland employed Luzon/Riga i cant remember which its blurred that time, everyone was moaning saying it was to quick him and KM didnt do a good enough search.
So why now TS is looking properly is it apparently to long.
Surely its better he gets the correct appointment even if it takes 7-14 days from the day JJ was sacked?
Are you just looking for a reason to moan? A stick to beat TS with?
We are not the only club without a manager atm
Lincoln haven't had a manager for 10 days Fleetwood magical 7 day(according to you) is up tomorrow.
Does that mean they have been poorly managed or do they not count, as Ts doesn't own them
I've come in for criticism here so I shall explain my reasoning:
It had been clear for several months that we weren't going either up or down a division. For those last few months we were generally in 13th- 17th place, weren't we? Therefore TS either thought: A. This is bad but I trust that JJ can sort it out for next season. B. This is bad and I need to change manager.
If it were B then he should have replaced him with a month or more to go so that the new manager can make his assessments. If it were A then he appears to have changed his mind at the last minute, probably due to the Ipswich result. My opinion is that this is what's happened. That's why I call it a petulant decision. It can't be because of our final position as we finished the season in almost the highest position we'd reached all season.
I may be wrong. What I know for sure was that I thought TS was great when he bought the club and I'm still thankful for that. What I now think is that he doesn't have a clue how to run a football club, and that we'll finish lower next season and then the next and so on until he changes his ways.
Most fans think it's B. The reason being Washington was as good as told this a few weeks before the Ipswich game. The most likely reason JJ wasn't sacked sooner, was because TS would have had to pay out less (if any) compensation by waiting until the season ended and JJ had "failed" the agreed contract.
Fair enough but it's now two weeks since he sacked Jackson and he still hasn't appointed a new manager. If it's B then he should have appointed someone by now. The only good reason why not would be if it's a manager of a play-off team.
Perhaps 'most fans' are wrong and it's A.
Or some candidates have been away for a short break after the season ended, like Jackson did.
Or some are coaches at Prem clubs so their season hasn’t ended
Or we were negotiating but someone turned it down (more of a bad reason but could be the case)
etc
Three weeks now. The Premier League has finished.
How many more excuses? Just face it: TS hasn't got a clue what he's doing. I can't believe from the threads on the play-offs and Sunderland that people think we stand a chance. It's like Everton fans thinking that they'll finish in the top six next season.
Four weeks now.
And to think that three weeks ago people were arguing that the sacking of Jackson was planned all along.
Planned?! My arse plans poos after me eating a bag of plums, better than this wallybrain owner can plan anything.
Five weeks and still counting.
Come on, get it sorted. The transfer window opens this week.
Feeling quite nostalgic, I liked so many of the players of that team/era. They wasn’t all great, some I probably remember being better than they were!!😂but felt much more of a connection to the team as a fan.

Is he a Beefeater
The argument about our new manager can wait until tomorrow
It’s meant to be!!!!!!, perm-anent manager!!🤣🤷🏻♂️

I heard 8k Charlton fans mention Fraser when he was MOM at the Valley for MK Dons so Martin Sandgaard may have been a tad late!
