That’s very kind. I will try to do better…but Robbo (the original) gets me every time.

I mean it's not impossible Martin/Thomas Sandgaard found that list of stats Swindon finished top of and based it off that. The ownership isn't subtle. But then again I don't necessarily think that was a bad way of going about (part of) the search - he'd still have had to interview and go against other candidates etc
So we assume we approached Swindon and that Garner / his agent didn’t put themselves forward after he sacked JJ?

I can’t help but wonder who else is offering suggestions to TS on the football side even if informally.
    Steve Parish.

I like TS and appreciate everything he has done for the club, but If we are really haggling over 10s of thousands of pounds and that is the hold up we are in trouble and he needs to get a grip
Imagine having a go at someone for not just binning off tens of thousands of quid of his own money because you want the manager to start two days earlier in a period where the players are on holiday. THROW THE AMOUNT OF YOUR MONEY I CHOOSE AT MY HOBBY MUSIC MAN
It's completely true what you say, and as Garner has already been effectively "working" before he gets officially unveiled the delay hasn't mattered, but negotiating for 3 weeks over 80k does show the financial position we are in.

If we don't get promoted in the next couple of years I can see TS trying to jump ship, and then we really will be in trouble, because I can't see many candidates signing up for an 8m loss every year.

  • So who are we meant to believe identified Garner as our next manager?
    Come on down Martin.
Is that right all joking aside?
A joke as far as I'm aware but as they claimed sandgaard jnr "identified" Fraser as a signing nothing would surprise me.

I heard 8k Charlton fans mention Fraser when he was MOM at the Valley for MK Dons so Martin Sandgaard may have been a tad late!
Exactly but he's still given the credit by papa.

Gordon Bolland after he’d done the unthinkable 😉
Just checked on Wikipedia & it says he only played 11 games for us, that can't be right can it ? Thought he played more than that ?

  • It seems perfectly reasonable that some fans are getting a bit agitated by this protracted long drawn-out Garnerian Saga. Or perhaps Saandgardian Saga? After all, we have, in recent seasons, really been behind in preparing well for preseason and hitting the ground running when the season has started. Here we have an opportunity for a fresh start for s new gaffer with plenty of time to bring in the right faces EARLY and assemble FIRST CHOICE signings to be really well-prepared for August. But we are fluffing our lines again. To be in mid June and not even have a manager in place is really asking for trouble.  Assuming Sandgaatd didn't just ditch JJ based on the Portman Road stunning, he must have not only had candidates lined up already but was in significant discussion with at least some of them,? As time hurtles on I tend to agree with those addicks who have Said that TS is simply operating in his role as owner of CAFC as he does his Medical equipment business. Football, he should know by now, is like no other business.

    Get on with it Tommo.

    Really hope not.

Remember when we thought we were loaded as used Freshfields! Football fan conclusions.
  • Thomas sounding more like Nixon than Nixon. Putting "at least" and "I think" in a sentence with just 10 words is hedging your bets somewhat.
Think Thomas is learning .. he can’t say yes tomorrow because if it did not happen well !!!!
  • Is that fact that Garners been working away at Charlton for the last couple of weeks or is it if I beleive it it must be true internet FACT?

Been backed up by a number of sources that he's been at the training ground and had meetings there, including with Gallen.

Amidst the confusion and 'non announcement' announcements being announced, I'm losing the plot here. Isn't Ben Garner officially still under contract as Swindon Town manager, or is that one of the things that we know we don't know?

If he is, then surely he can't be working for us (yet).

Officially or technically he isn't necessarily.  If you read the press releases Swindon have made when Chorley left and the new bloke came in he wasn't named.  They even said they didn't know if they were looking at a DOF and head coach or a manager as a solution.

Ah yes, I remember that now. So much water's been passed since then I'd forgotten.

If only someone could do a summary of the verbatim quotes from Thomas Sandgaard and a Bona fide Journalist on the SLP or the Swindon roundabout sports advertiser but not posters who say they have a mate who told them or folk on the internet called Sausage or Conor just in case it turns out to be attention seekers who just rehash what they hear from each other.

Both Airman Brown and buttleJR are good sources as the former has a track record of garnering info from the inner circle over the years and the latter has a connection with Thomas who tells him information which may be smoke and mirrors but young JR passes on in good faith.
There is only one person who is a course and distance winner in this skill on CL ?
I call for super woman @aliwibble to separate out the wheat from the chaff.

Fixed that for you Sam 😉.
  • Perms. Chuffing perms.
I’ll be disappointed if tomorrow morning I don’t wake up to 200 new posts of players that resemble fruit or vegetables.
