I really hope they’ve managed to sort compensation for Garner’s backroom team.
It’s crucial to bring in his own coaches.
We’ve been burnt too many times with imposed backroom staff. It doesn’t work.
BG needs full control of playing matters with trusted staff, to establish a blueprint and a style of play.
    Otherwise it’s just Adkins II.

I’m not trying to make an impatient point here but if you’d of told me this time last month Jackson will make his first signing in a new job before we named his successor I wouldn't of believed it.
Nearly 5 weeks, and people defend it. Total circus.
I’m defending or attacking it, it’s just a little surprising to me, but if his tactic is to make sure it’s the absolute right one then so be it.
Doesn't take a semi competent league one club 5 weeks to appoint a manager, in the off season.
Why though? What’s wrong with negotiating a deal to suit us as well as them, if I could drag the purchase of something expensive out to save a few quid I probably would, it’s not critical right now, I’ll admit I was nervous but I don’t see why haggling over compensation makes us incompetent.
Because we fucked up last season due to our inactivity all summer and lack of preparation. Jackson has been sacked nearly 5 weeks ago, seemingly without any sort of succession plan as we still have no manager on June 7th.

Since Jackson has left, he's gone on holiday, interviewed for / got a new job, and made his first signing.

Fleetwood sacked their manager May 4th, they have a new manager in place and have already made their first signing.
It’s probable that we’ve got our man, and he’s working behind the scenes before it’s announced. It’s also possible we have signings ready to go when the window opens. Garner could well have had a hand in recruitment as he probably ‘signed’ a couple of weeks ago.
While we’d all have liked it to be announced as well, I don’t think it’s the big disaster some feel it is.
Yes, for football insiders a few eyebrows may have been raised about the optics/coms, which is a shame.
    AAAAAGGGGGGHHHHH

The window hasn’t stopped plenty of other clubs announcing signings, the date it opens is irrelevant.
This is what I mean about not getting too het up. I’m not too bothered about when the announcements are made, so long as the signings are decent. Would be nice to hear something this week of course, but next week would be ok too. The players aren’t back from their hols yet, so I’m ok with it.

I am sure we said the same thing last summer..... and the summer before that..... its like Groundhog Day. Being urged to stay calm up until 10pm on deadline day. Before we slowly realise we didnt do anything close to enough to compete.
We were under an embargo the summer before last.

I lay zero blame at Sandgaard's door for that.

    Every window since though...

I get all that but you know full well we have a plan as at today, they’re obviously cross t’s and dotting i’s.  I get all the frustration and I’m with you, but I think some are getting too panicked, there’s so so much time to get this summer right, the players aren’t even in the building.

I’ll fully agree with you “if” we end up with a shit squad and are looking at deadbeats come midnight deadline day.  But for now I’m happy to see if he’s leant from last season.
I dunno mate, 7 & a half weeks until the first game of the season doesn’t seem like a lot of time when we need 7/8 players for the first xi + x amount as squad players.
Fair point but that’s where we’ll probably disagree.  Im not saying he will get it right I'm saying there is plenty of time and chances to get it right.
    Plenty?
What so any side who hasn’t made a signing at this point doesn’t have much time?
I don't care for any other club, just this one. For the job we needed to do before the end of the season, I didn't think we had plenty of time. Looks like another wasted season. Unless there is around 12 rabbits about to be pulled from a hat!
You can make comparisons whilst still only caring for one club.

Its 7th June there’s loads of time to sign loads of players.
  • So I still haven’t built up a coherent picture of the situation other than the clubs tedious, the fans are tedious, we need 16 new players, someone’s on a wind up, someone’s talking rubbish and seven weeks is plenty of time but simultaneously not long enough….and we’re all going on holiday to Spain 🇪🇸, or possibly not, or possibly just a minivan 🚐 full, with or without a manager?
  • Nixon being diplomatic and smooth with his words!
  • Nearly 700K views & 5 weeks of hearsay, rumours and misguided TS social media - talk about mismanaging comm’s & making hash of getting a new manager on board. TS joins a long list of owners who we’ve had misfortune to supposedly  run our club, Curbs, Varney, Murray years seems a distant memory.Imagine an English businessman buying a US Basketball team with no knowledge and recruiting a manager / players without getting experienced help / staff?
TS & MS are custodians of our club - IMO very much on borrowed time as we head to 4th manager under their ownership and  with no sign of buying Valley / Sparrows Lane… can see things turning nasty if season starts badly and recruitment is underwhelming.

Good recruitment takes ages.  The common assumption is we started the "summer of Powell" recruitment in March........
Is it?  Maybe I’ve missed it, genuinely, but I’ve not seen assume we’re going to sign what 16 players?
Can’t sign anywhere near that without selling a load. I think we’ll only get about 6 perms

Great effort, but where are the top six Charlton perms??!!😂

9 days till the lads back in training 😂

  • Slightly concerned that the Swindon perspective of Garner has a common theme in that he only plays one way. Feels like we’ve just been there, I’m becoming less optimistic the more I hear, surely it should be the other way. If it is him I will be 100% in support but don’t feel excited by it. The thing I do like is the fact it should be a good freshen up of ideas with the new faces, on the coaching and player side which I think is welcome. My feelings going into the season are really going to hang on the overall recruitment. Hopefully things start coming together to give us a picture of what we can look forward to…. Or not!!😬😂

Yes.  Which is why there’s loads of time to sign players, or did you think clubs sign absolutely everyone before their first day back?
