Just spoke to a mate who is a Swindon season ticket holder and he said he is sorry to see him go. Only doubt he said was he never seemed to have a plan B. Mmmm

    Welcome just the same.

99.99% of the "saga" on Jacko's replacement exists in the tortured, daylight deprived, ego and imaginations of the CL keyboard worriers and their ilk in the twattersphere
What hastily made up balls is going to keep them furiously glued to their screens now?
But if Charlton signs that poundshop Andy Carroll J Marquis I might be driven to typing a profanity or two ;-)

I wonder how long it’s going to take for Ben to realise that he has a massive job on his hands turning around a squad that needs enormous work to get anywhere close to those Swindon stats.

Perhaps we have not heard about his football coaches following him from Swindon is what has held the confirmation up. He has probably told Garner, you have Euell, that would do and with the money I have saved you can have for transfers  :)

Presumably that "we build from the back" chant is well and truly out the window now.

Welcome Ben, let's get down to business
Well we will be building our attacks from the back!

Whereas last season "we hoof from the back" might have been more accurate

I've been waiting years & years for a manager to implement an attacking team  - one that has more shots than the opposition & puts that above defending.

Only problem is.............has he seen the current squad ?  A lot of rebuilding & coaching needed to get this lot shooting at every opportuinty.

At least I've found my home......... :)
I've seen enough teams with lower budgets than us playing a passing and attacking style of football, to suggest you don't need a Man City budget to change your style, and that players can adapt

But you do need the players. Squads way deficient on attacking options right now. You can’t polish a turd.

I’ve shared this before. But whenever I hear people talk about Plan B (at least for a team
who play possession based football) it always reminds me of this.

Relieved that it's finally done after the last fortnight's soap opera. Thomas certainly doesn't make things easy, does he.

According to the Swindon Advertiser, "A deal for Swindon's assistant coaches, Scott Marshall and Scott Lindsey, to follow Garner to South London is still thought to be in the works." Assuming this is correct, let's hope it gets done quickly.

We now just need some players. Hopefully, we'll get a few new signings in before the squad departs for the training camp in Spain.

    Welcome Ben.

    1. does he pass the height test?

    2. what is his clean sheet win record?
And can he play the guitar...?

no side in the top 10 in L2 conceded more goals
    selective stats and all that
penalty and free-kick conversion rate must have been good - can we sign whoever was responsible for them?

Call me naive, but I’m really looking forward to next season now.

That’s dependent on a decent window of course.

Only downside is that we already have too many Bens.
You can never have too many Bens in managerial positions @JamesSeed

If only the board had listened to JS in 1956 they would have appointed Benny Fenton and history would have been very different.
  • Let's hope he delivers, I'd never heard of him before 2 weeks ago so he could be the next Eddie Howe or the next Russell Slade for all I know.
Was he discovered thanks to 'data analytics'?

Just read this news in the railway museum in York.
About as Charlton as you can get. If Garner is anywhere near as good as this museum it will be a fantastic ride.

Garner would be aware of this, I doubt he’s trying to let goals in, maybe he’s learned from it, maybe his first signing will be a centre back, who knows, I don’t how you would not take comfort from the attacking stats though, they are very good.

For the second time, welcome Ben.  Excited about what you can deliver and hopefully bring us a brand of winning football.

The hard work starts now.  We’ve got a lot of dross in that squad, despite the players released.

I hope he/our recruitment team have got some quality in mind

    I’d forgotten that.
JS earlier made Benny captain because he wouldn’t stop wise cracking and winding people up. Thought it might shut him up, apparently.  😂
