If England finish second in the group they will be playing at the same time.
Surely every game in the country would be moved to accommodate that - even if it means a late/early kick off.
Surely it’s easier to move the England game.

So who on here is going tonight to the dinner?

I'm looking forward to it and, whilst I've probably heard all the stories before, I'm still hopeful it's a good night in memory of a great occasion

I'll never forget being one of the lucky ones in there that day even if I did end up in the Jimmy Seed stand as it was.  Just another part in the drama that is being a Charlton fan I guess......and I wouldn't change it for the world

My dad won a free ticket after my sister in law entered his details with reasons why - he did a lot to help the club back then and still lives and breaths it - my sister in law is going with him and she loves Yann so they should both have a great night

Following his tweets I wondered if he’d be welcome - but there’s a couple of tables separating him from Thomas and I’m yet to see them scuffling

I finally got to thank Webbo in person for that 40-1 first goalscorer bet in the game against Southend at Upton Park.
  • Might be worth celebrating when we actually own it again.

I was there for no apparent reason, given I wasn't alive at the time. But I met some of my heroes and was utterly embarrassed, because I simply could not contain my glee!

A lovely night and very evocative. I have heard so much about the Battle for the Valley, and to be there in that room with so many of those who basically gave life to what I am privileged to experience now was nearly overwhelming at points.

That said - my only quibble would be the food - there was no real provision for those with vegan, or even vegetarian, requirements (I say this as an unapologetic meat eater). On four occasions (twice with a starter, and twice with the main) the staff attempted to serve the meat dish to the gentleman I was seated next to - a former member of this parish who is well known for their veganism. He took it well all things considered, but I was a bit appalled that in 2022, at a gala dinner, there was seemingly no plan in place for someone who is vegan. The dessert was of one option and it was dairy-based, while the replacement starter had clearly been hastily made up by the chef from constituent parts of the vegetarian option, in absence of a vegan option.
