This is going to sound really stupid but we looked much better before we scored the second.
There will be time for more tactics talk later but we played at least 3 different formations in the second half. The move for to Morgan to right back was inspiring.
I have had an emotional couple of weeks but I was in tears when Leaburn scored in front of the Covered End.
Be back in a bit.36 -
Stockley wasn't that good 🤣8

Garner:
"Credit to the players, channelled frustration from Saturday in the right way"
"we made changes and the players that came in didn't drop the level"
"Jes, what a performance, so talented and level-headed"
"really pleased for Kirky, brilliant since I walked in pre-season, works hard"
"first half in possession we were excellent"
"control in second half was very good, could've had more"
"pleased for Miles to score in front of Covered End"
"to build on Saturday's performance with this result against Plymouth who just beat Peterborough is really promising"
"work rate without the ball has really improved over preseason and we're able to rotate and keep the performance levels high"
"Clayden has been excellent, considering he's never played left back before, so pleased with him tonight, so mature, looked like he played 50-100 games already"
"really important to make this difficult for other teams to come to the Valley and want fans to enjoy coming, keep the momentum going"31 -
Great team performance. Everyone of them played wel. I thought our midfield and Morgan in particular were terrific today.3

Game reminded me of evening games in the mid 70’s. Goals, goals & more goals.22

Wow.
Emphatic performance.
Team with real energy.
Garner has imposed his style brilliantly and it's lovely to watch.
Superb goals.
Thought tonight would be a good early indication of where we're at and buzzing after that and bodes well for the season.
Promotion team performance that and got to be a massive confidence booster. So pleased for Kirk and it meant a lot to him.
What a night. Bring on Cambridge. COYA!8 -

Amazing what 95 or so minutes of football can do for you. A lot of you who have read the “how are you?” thread will know of my mental health and medical troubles and honesty it was only very last minute I felt I had to strength to go down the Valley tonight. Sitting in the north upper with it bouncing gave me close to two hours of thinking about nothing but football and enjoying myself. On the game, every one of them played that perfectly. The fact we could keep CBT rested as well is an added bonus. A lot of teams in this division would give arms, legs, kidneys, testicles and whatever else to have Kirk, CBT and JRS as options.Leaburn will be a better goal scorer for us than Karlan Grant was.Clayden was solid and definitely gave Kirk more space and time to operate.Morgan looks like he is finally, FINALLY, using a football brain to go with his technical ability. On to Cambridge.56

I chose not to pay the £10 because of other events.
Sounds like I missed a good one!

There defenders couldn’t deal with him, and he just created so much space for our attacking players when he dropped in deep.
Also took the pressure off us a fair few times by winning the ball in tight spaces and spreading it out (which he has been doing since pre season, as I’ve been at pains to point out).
He won’t score every chance he gets, but my only worry is that it is now 4 clear headers he has had which he has not managed to convert. He has to start putting some of those away.17 -
What a performance. Nothing more to be said.3

Just imagine how much better we'll be when Gilbey's playing as well!

So pleasing on the eye tonight.
happy for Kirky. Clayden was great. Up the Addicks. Love it! x4 -
Best first half since.. I don't know when. What a combination Clayden and Kirk were tonight. Finally we saw the real Kirky and I was willing him to get a goal. Very pleased for him after a dreadful first season with us.Great team performance. Special mention For Albie's first half. Simply superb.10

And being in love means never having to say you're sorry.5 -
Any other game Kirk gets MOTM for that 2nd half performance... today there might be 3 or 4 ahead of him... but so many classy passes and crosses from the lad.
Can't see anyone taking MOTM from Albie, though.10 -
Brilliant tonight. What more can I say. I like Ben Garner. Maybe we have got it right at last with a manager? More of the same Saturday please Charlton4
