All I say is that Pete came for a birthday drink with me, rather than be at the club, speaks volumes. Whatever is happening at the club, PV is outside of it, hopefully to pick up after the mess has settled.
Footballs unpredictability at its best tonight. People on here actually said they weren’t going because we’d lose. Glad those that turned up had a night off from the misery surrounding this club

Bit weird he didn't come to the match 🤔
He did attend.
But in your original post you said he didn’t go to the club? 🤔🙄🧐

He could have had at drinks at Charlton before the game or be with guinessaddick elsewhere …. guess he chose elsewhere
maybe Peter just wanted to highlight to problems with the ticketing and entry that caused a lot of use to miss the start of the match? shambles entering the north upper

It is a shambles and seems nothing has improved since the Norwich game - I got there early last night coz I was able to unlike Norwich when I missed the first 20 mins - east stand seemed to be affected even worse this time
After all the conjecture about PV’s motives and intentions, it basically came down to whether you trust him or not. If you do, based on his track record with the club, you’ll have been there if you could. A lot responded to his call. I don’t know if he had potential buyers with him, or if the crowd would have made a decisive impact on them, or even if it’s too late anyway - but I’m glad we gave Peter our support and I hope beyond all else that it did make a difference.

He certainly got the crowd and atmosphere he was asking for. Let's hope it means something
If he had no ulterior motive for his rallying cry, every supporter who went on the basis of it owes him a thank you. It isn't often we get nights like last night these days.
To be honest I think you could have called that crowd at the start, based on Norwich. A few hundred people may have responded to PV but it was always going to be about that level.
What’s striking is that the club didn’t have a clue.

Yeah they opened the east's exit gates at about 19:40 to let people in without even checking tickets. Only half the turnstiles looked to be open.

Is it striking? It's common knowledge that the club have no idea on how to do anything

Agreed - everything you come into contact with at the club is wrong - the turnstiles can't deal with a crowd, the refreshment bars can't deal with anything and employ probably the most stupid people possible, the club shop is overpriced and has nothing in it and most importantly, the team doesn't have a single goal scorer. This takeover can't / couldn't come quick enough.

Cup games always take longer to get in through the turnstiles. Everyone scanning their ticket (paper or phone) just takes a little more time. People joining the queue faster than people getting in.

If Charlton fans didn’t attend because they thought we’d lose then the ground would always be empty.

I suspect that quite a few more than a few hundred rallied to the call. I’m not saying thousands but I bet it’s more than 1500. I don’t think 11k addicks would have turned up three nights before Christmas to see what everyone thought was a whacking without that PV intervention.

Agreed SHG. Lots of people chatting outside, on the concourse and in the ground were mentioning Varney.

This has literally always been true. I worked on the turnstiles in the mid-90s and the accepted practise was once your were released (usually 15 mins into the game) you could go an watch the match if there were available seats.
A cold Tuesday night, home to Grimsby, my self and @Spankie head into one of the unopened blocks in the south stand (only 198 travelled down from Grimsby). I pop to the refreshments bar to get a quick drink and snack, 2 items that come to a nice round number, so I'm standing there, correct change in hand, missing the game, whilst the idiot behind the counter pulls out a napkin and a pen to work out how much I need to pay.
Maybe PV just wanted to prove to certain people that he still has ‘our support’? Maybe he was proving that if you ask the supporters to turn up and get behind the team, show them what we’re really about, we will?
The man knows us, he will always know us. And therefore if ‘anyone’ wants to take us forward, it’s always best to have him on board in any possible capacity 🤷♀️

Or a clue on how to run it on the day. Not a single steward outside at the East Stand Turnstiles, and fewer than normal inside when you finally got into the ground.
Just found out I have no trains home after the game tonight. I'll still go but won't be looking forward to a convoluted journey home.
You must need to change a few times to get to Bangkok.
I knew someone was going to come out with a comment like that! But I got two responses, even better.
It's not Southeastern for once, it's Southwestern out of Waterloo. And, no, they don't have a direct Bangkok train either!
You could have got the 10.43 from Waterloo via Crawley to Dubai and changed there for a direct service to Bangkok.
Not this week - there are engineering works at Riyadh Junction, and leaves on the line between New Delhi and Lucknow. Plus there may be a bus service in parts of West Bengal. Might think of a stopover here and there!
