  • Bangladesh 170-4 after 36. Not bad given the quality of the opposition, but they'll need something special to happen to actually get anything out of this.

256-8 off 50. Not enough on this wicket.

Kohli needs 15 for his hundred and India needs 15 to win. Single off the third ball of the over to take him off strike is turned down. Single off final ball is taken.

Wide given. Kohli not happy but it's still in his hands. Trick missed there. Save the wide for when Kohli needs one!

Never let it be said that Kohli was worried about India's NRR

Two to win. Kohli needs three. Two wides please.

Oh no that is ridiculous. Bowler balls a ball down the legside and a wide isn't given.

Kohli hits a six to reach his ton and for India to win by 7 wickets with 8.3 overs to spare

  • I've not seen it, but can't blame the umpire for not giving a wide. It didn't affect the result, and nobody in India will care that it made India's NRR fractionally worse!

I think it just sets a bit of a bad precedent as the Laws are there to be. Kohli left the ball when he could have played it (and he could still have reached his hundred in the way he did by hitting a six as scores would have been tied). Any team can now point to this if, let's say, the batting side needs a single to win the match and a wide is given. Or, if, in the same situation the batsman left the ball, a la Kohli, knowing that one is needed and the umpire does the same thing and doesn't give a wide - in that situation Kohli, the whole of India and the BCCI would go absolutely ballistic if the game ended up at tie. To my mind the Laws are the Laws, sentiment and a match situation has no bearing whatsoever as each delivery is an entity in itself. Kettleborough's actions, in not giving a wide, puts more pressure on him the next time the same circumstances arise.

Anyone else started to lose interest in this tournament ?

I am a cricket lover but one game a day is just dragging it out.  I am not even looking at the results now , when in the past I would have been sneakily watch the live coverage when at work.

I think it's been great. Anyway, just for you, two games tomorrow, both look like crackers too
  • The group stage format is far too long. Crazy they England can lose 2 of their first 3 games, yet can still go through.

Pakistan have won the toss and asked Australia to bat
  • The format, including both the lack of simultaneous games and the large group stage that guarantees India will play Pakistan, is set up for the Indian TV market. No-one cares what anyone else thinks about it. Hence why we have this daft format that only the 4 semi-finalists and perhaps 1 or 2 who still have a chance of qualifying in their last game get to experience any real drama.

I complain about the format of football world cups, but when I see what other sports do I have to admit we do it better than most.

First ball Afridi begs for an LBW review. Apart from Warner middling it onto the pads and the ball sailing over the stumps it was a really good shout. Sometimes captains have to be stronger and listen to those square of the wicket.

Then fourth ball he's claiming a catch of the pads. Fortunately for Pakistan, Babar isn't listening!

Warner and Marsh showing what can be done in the PP albeit that Warner benefitted from not the first shocking drop we've seen in this tournament including 39 runs off 12 deliveries.

    82-0 off 10

Warner's last four innings against Pakistan have been 130 (2017), 179 (2017), 107 (2019) and 163 (today). That drop when he was on 10 is becoming rather painful for Pakistan.
