3 days of decent weather forecast, so when we come to bat conditions should still be good.

Probably too soon, but Worcs will need to sign a spinner in the next week or so. I know it seems heartless to say it, but it is true. Save Amar Virdi?

Tell you what, having watched this last 30 minutes I can safely say this is an absolute road. No early ball movement and batters seem to have all the time in the world to play their shots.

I knew this would work !!!

You don't see that very often - a batsman half way back to the dressing room before he is given out LBW!

Kashif Ali actually joined Kent's Academy six or seven years ago as an overage player given the norm. He never get a contract and since then has done the 2s circuit as well as playing for SACA, finally getting a contract a Worcs and scored two hundreds in his first game this season.

Kashif is playing probably the most restrained innings of his professional career

And was lucky not to be out. That was Finch's catch that he left for Crawley.

    Interesting situation at Surrey.

Atkinson and ECB central contracted player not selected today. He's already had his 2 ECB mandated rest games in this 7 game period (which in my view was used as an excuse for him not getting in the side) but that excuse no longer can be used. Even with Overton injured the arrival of Abbott who was unbelievable for us last season along with the other 3 seamers being Roach, Worrall and Clark who are basically un-droppable on form both this season and sustained over the last few seasons. In previous seasons we might have gone in with no spinner but Cam steel has been excellent - particularly at the Oval and is Div 1 top wicket taker so thats not gonna happen - he also adds much better balance to the side with his batting.

But yeah odd that an England contracted player can't get in his county side and is arguably 6th choice quick when all available. Particularly when England qualified but never selected Jordan Clark is ahead of him.

Effectively, Surrey have three overseas seamers and are highly unlikely to leave any of those out especially when they are in form and what they are likely to be paying for their services. Counties aren't going to be dictated to by the ECB (Hartley, Bashir and Ahmed other examples) as they want the best balanced team and don't want to upset the dressing room spirit by bringing in someone who hasn't contributed previously to the success of the side and who is basically using those games to find form for England. Kent is different in that respect because we are never going to leave Crawley out even if he isn't producing runs although it is something that they should have done previously with Billings so far as the CC is concerned.

Worrall will be England qualified before too long. Clark, Lawes and Overton are England qualified. But agreed. Atkinson is an odd case though as at no point in his career would have have been in Surrey's best 11 in either county champ or T20. He's always done well when called upon but its always been due to either injury or international/franchise absences. In fact his only real run in the side was in the first 100 affected 50 over cup when he led the bowling attack with much success.

Not been watching, but the scoring rate seems quite slow, so Worcs haven't got away from us.

Especially as there's been 26 extras. Roderick is doing a poor man's impression of Compton - 72* off 186 balls including just 3 boundaries

Rodderick recaches his 100 off 241 balls including four boundaries. New ball has just been taken.

In the great scheme of things, the no balls probably won't matter but they might. We've bowled 11 of them already today (Big Wes is responsible for 8) so that's 22 runs out of 31 extras that we've handed to them on a plate.

308-5 off 96 overs at close. Whilst we didn't run through them, we did keep it tight (bar the extras) and in doing so, we have just about kept ourselves in the game.

    WA Agar           16-1-77-1
    B Swanepoel     19-1-60-0
    NN Gilchrist      17-3-37-0
    JDM Evison       17-5-39-2
    MW Parkinson   22-0-79-2
    JA Leaning          5-0-14-0

Good of him to get himself out. I imagine it was a really slow high delivery that gave him time to bowl the ball then run down the other end to get trapped in front.
