Aldridge went for 29 in the 15th over and is one of the five seamers that Somerset have used to bowl. Which makes it all rather strange that Somerset, knowing the conditions and that they clearly had no intention of bowling spin, chose to have Leach in the side who is not the most agile of fielders, especially on this wet outfield, and who will be batting at 11. They could have afforded to have picked an extra seamer or even a "pinch hitter" to bat at the top with nothing to lose even more so given that they still have Archie Vaughan to bowl spin if they really wanted to do so.
  • Poor Somerset. Losing finalists in the Blast and the One Day Cup and if they aren't careful they could end up with three bridesmaid dresses for finishing runners up in the CC. Our biggest challenge is trying to finish second bottom in everything!

There's something strange about a 50-over competition being decided by a T20 game. You would have thought they could have come up with another format. Maybe 'The 110' as midpoint between the Hundred and the T20.
  • I guess at least it wasn't a bowl out in the indoor school or something.

How long until Archie Vaughan is getting England hype given his dad ;)
  • Should have played it during/at the end of August !

This proves to me that the "powers that be" consider the 50 overs comp to be a 2nd rate one.

And emphasises that their feckin "100 balls up" is their summertime priority.
  • Compton and Garrett are ill. Jordan has returned home. Quinn is back from the exile of being injured as is Stewart

May be an image of 1 person and text that says KENT CRICKET M MATCHSQUAD SQUAD DANIEL BELL- BELL-DRUMMOND C JAYDN DENLY JOE DENLY JOEY EVISON HARRY FINCH NATHAN GILCHRIST JACK LEANING MUYEYE MARCUS ORIORDAN MATT PARKINSON MATT QUINN JAS SINGH GRANT STEWART TAWANDA
  • Quinn returning for the FINAL game of the season sums things up. I assume O'Riordan will open

  • A bore draw between Warks and Notts will relegate Lancashire if Notts can pick up 2 bonus points, even if Lancashire pick up the maximum 24 points, which is unlikely..
  • It's difficult to reconcile that Warwickshire could well stay up with just the one win to their name from 14 matches played. That said, we are 61 points behind them having secured exactly the same number of wins.
  • Warks have a ridiculous 30 batting points vs our pathetic 9, and 36 bowling points vs our 29.

It rather begs the question why they've won so few games, does Edgbaston have its own rainy microclimate?  :D

Worcs can play the kids as far as I'm concerned

    118-4
has denly got a contract for next year ?
He still has one year to run.  Unless they've signed a contract in the interim that I'm not aware of, the ones that are potentially out of contract this season are Crawley, Klaassen, Stewart, Compton, Qadri, Quinn, Gilchrist, O'Riordan and Arafat. Clearly, some of those will be leaving and one or two will be invited to sign a new one but one suspects that no announcements will be made until at least our fate in the CC is sealed. Whatever happens, there will be plenty of scope for new signings.

Those I believe still to be in contract:

    DBD
    Billings (white ball)
    Agar (overseas)
    Leaning
    Denly (Joe)
    Muyeye
    Denly (Jaydn)
    Cohen
    Evison
    Finch
    Garrett
    Parkinson
    Singh (Jas)
    Singh (Ekansh)

Well, Simon Cook is suggesting that there won't be many changes in the make up of the squad:

“We will sit down and recruit a coach first. Then, we’ll sit down and work out if - and where - we need to make changes.

“But you have got players within contracts so it’s not quite the football model where it’s all out and all change.

    “There will be minimal changes.”

    IF ?
  • Looks like the match has been abandoned for the day.
  • Bad news for Lancs who need a win and a result between Notts and Warks.
  • "Congratulations to James Logan on re-signing with Broxbourne Cricket Club for the 2025 Hertfordshire Premier Cricket League campaign. The former Yorkshire and Kent left-arm spinner had an excellent first season at Mill Lane scoring just under 600 runs and over 30 wickets. It is no wonder that both parties were keen to continue their partnership. We are backing James to excel next summer as Broxbourne push for another successful summer on the hunt for some silverware." From CricX.
  • Lancs have Worcs 81-7.

Worcs doing their best to make Lancs safe, and keep Warks worried  :D
  • Wonderful. Probably the first time this season that Kent have provided a happy cricketing experience, and certainly our best for ages - on any other day we'd be following on by now!!
  • Chris Benjamin rumoured to be coming our way

  • Yup just read that in the cricketer too, can’t say I know too much about him but was highly regarding in the one day format not too long ago
  • Thought he was pretty much a T20 specialist? Does keep though.

Benjamin has a First Class average of 24.15 from 24 innings with his only hundred coming on his Championship debut. Averaged 11.4 in the Blast last season and only played one game, scoring 2, in the 50 over comp. Sounds like our sort of player! Clearly a "punt" on someone whose career has stalled somewhat.

Started as that - had a very good first season in the Hundred (2021) but only played 4 games in 2023 and none in 2024 with only a single match in the 50 over comp while that was going on. Overall T20 average is 20.91 at 138.41 but just 11.41 last season. As you say, he does keep but only did so on the odd occasion last season.
  • I trust Ollie Robinson has taken the Kent boys around some of Chester-le-Street's finest joints  :)

Thankfully, with that lineup, there are only 2 days to survive...

  • Durham 91-1

Tawanda (23) and Jaydn (18) must be just about our youngest ever opening pair in the CC?
  • 149-1 (33) at lunch. Sadly very much in keeping with our season.
  • Worst season ever .  Makes Charlton look competitive and entertwininf
