Awful no bottle or heart. 

Appleton knows a lot of these are not good enough.  I just hope he can get them out and replace with players he wants.

My next birthday is my 60th and my knees have gone but I was thinking watching that, that I couldn't have done any worse. Mind you, as you say a mannequin couldn't either so not such a great claim on my part! Personally, I think Kanu needs to start with May.

I get the idea Appleton is spot on. 
The trouble is Charlton have been a bunch of lightweights for most of my supporting years ergo we rarely beat Millwall. 

This has been said for a number of years, but we continue to play too many light weight inexperienced Academy lads and sign too many small, lightweight, gutless players.

I know little of our owners, but I do expect it interests them how their investment is doing and that they'd want to hold those responsible to account. They've appointed a management team who can't shift the blame onto the fans. That said, I doubt inept cup performances will prompt them to make significant changes.

Credit where it’s due - Gillingham were, to a man, very good and they carried out their game plan to perfection. They also had Jonny Williams, who was the master of the field in the first half, although it probably helped that we gave him all the time he wanted on the ball. He cannot have had more time and space in any game this season. I hadn’t appreciated that he was the player down at the end of the first half following a whack on the head and I hope he’s ok.

On the plus side, the pre and post-match pubs were very good - Past and Present (micropub), The Will Adams and the Frog and Toad. Every cloud has a silver lining, even with this debacle.

The fact is we have become an established Division 3 club, we are no longer a "big" club in this division apart from The Valley. We are a club that think spending £250k on a striker is a big deal & yes we struck lucky with Alfie but Holden had to fight to get him in the door. We have become a club relying on out of contract signings, free transfers, loans & youngsters who by & large aren't ready for first team football.

More than a query than an observation but surely an inspirational skipper would motivate this lot.  I cannt imagine Benny Fenton putting up with this sort of rubbish.  Just watch for Gillingham to draw Manchester City at home in the 3rd round.

Reading this thread has been a bit of an eye opener. Clearly we’re STILL lacking that dynamic, physical midfielder, as we’re still very lightweight. We haven’t had one since Pratley.

Vital that we acquire a proper centre back and a new striker. I haven’t given up on CBT yet, but have never really rated Tyreece tbh.
Very worried for Miles.

For those at the back or hard of hearing I'll say it again. 

You need to do your business early & do it well. Mostly all done by the time the pre-season games come around but certainly 95% done by the start of the season.  Loans are ok but they should be fillers & not mainstays of the team. 

I didn't go today but said on the preview thread that we would lose. Currently the  team is made up lightweight & no hopers. Only exceptions to that are May, Dobson & Jones......and CBT when he's arsed.  The rest are lower League one players. Never seen McGrandles have a good game, certainly not 90 mins of one. Fraser blows hot & cold & the less said about Tedic the better.

Still debating whether I should go to the Cambridge match or the Burton one. Currently staying in & staring at the walls seems like the better option.

To be fair I went to the 6-0 Hull game in a fancy dress laundry basket, in a nod the the team manager alledgedly leaving the previous away ground in a laundry basket to escape the fans. When our most sang chant was "We're the Charlton, the mighty Charlton, we never win away." That was definately a low point.

Was today as bad, no, we've been on an OK run. Sadly as others have said, they are almost immune to the disappointment of such dross performances. The gate on Tuesday night should tell the new owners all they need to know. There were more at Gills today than at the Valley. If that statistic (made up or otherwise) doesn't make them smell the stale coffee, the crap on the pitch never will.

Were getting feck all for Christmas from this lot, so may January be a new beginning.

Felt for Alfie today. He cares and was so pissed at the others before half time that he gave both CBT and Dobbo an earful during the drinks break.

Mickey Apples has got his work cut out. No one player can be excused today.
