Jaffa from Bashir to bowl Padikkal for 65.
403/5 and 3rd wicket for the Tyro spinner.
  • Our fielding has been shocking today.
  • Leuth said:
The Pudgy Destroyer is getting going...
He's going to be such a home track bully imo. Will get torn apart by swing & high pace in England, Oz etc.
  • Jurel gets bored and pumps one done the ground to Duckett. A 4th wicket to Bashir.

    427-6
  • Bit of a mini collapse this session
  • Bashir takes his 4th wicket as Duckett takes a clean catch inside the boundary ropes.
    427/6
  • And Harley traps Jadeja LBW. Anyone who hasn't seen the dismissal want to guess as to whether Jadeja reviewed it or not?

    427-7

Hartley after a long struggle get his 1st wicket Jadeja lbw 15.
    427/7
  • Hartley then bowls Ashwin for a duck with a ball that goes straight on with the arm

    428-8
  • If we'd not batted like dickheads we could've/should've got 400+. Could've been set up nicely.

Like buses you wait for ages then two come along with Hartley bowling the master spinner for 0

    428/8

Definitely feels like a 3 day test match and the England party can spend a couple of days climbing a mountain or find a golf course before heading home after losing again to the Best home team in the world of cricket.
  • Weird how a day of toil for the spinners has suddenly changed into a flurry of wickets for them
  • Good fightback - we will now only lose by an innings and 20 runs rather than an innings and 120
  • After England's 1st Innings the test batting average in this series was the same as the batting order with Crawley 1st and Duckett 2nd right down to Anderson the lowest at 11th.

Never seen that before as I guess Root was often the highest average batting at 4.
  • Hartley is the leading wicket taker in the Series. Fantastic work by him and Bashir on their international debut series. There has to be some context but also an acceptance that they will get even better with the right sort of experience:

    Hartley     22 @ 35.54
    Jadeja       21 @ 27.04
    Ashwin     18 @ 25.05
    Bumrah     17@ 16.64
    Kuldeep    17 @ 20.17
    Bashir       16 @ 34.10
    Rehan       11 @ 44.00
    Anderson   9 @ 37.11
    Root           8 @ 51.00
    Siraj           6 @ 44.66
    Axar           5 @ 41.20
    Wood         4 @ 76.29

  • 473-8 at close for a lead of 255
  • Bumrah looks comfortable out there. No excuse for England to collapse to 200 again.
  • Bumrah looks comfortable out there. No excuse for England to collapse to 200 again.
Apart from facing Bumrah and co again!
  • We had a very slight sniff when they went 8 down & could have got them all out for 430. Sadly their tail wags rather than trying to hit 6's and with Stokes drop catch right at the end I feel an innings defeat is on the cards.

*700th Test wicket for Jimmy Anderson*

    Kuldeep c Foakes  b Anderson 30
    477/9
  • 477 All out.

Bumrah st Foakes b Bashir 20

    Fifer for Bashir.
  • Shoaib Bashir is the 1st England bowler under 21 to have taken two 5 wicket hauls in tests.
  • Duckett charges Ashwin in his first over and gets bowled

    Duckett b Ashwin 2

Ashwin has Duckett's number and claims his wicket for the 7th time.

Ben has a good test average but he needs a better defence as he picks the wrong ball to attack after going down the wicket.

    2/1

    Crawley c Sarfaz  b Ashwin 0

22/2.    Ashwin 2-9 and he had both openers discombobulated from his 1st ball.

Ashwin bowls a Jaffa to Pope that beats him through the gate but somehow misses the wicket by an inch.

Ashwin the master craftsman is on a mission to get this game done and dusted.

No sooner said 🤦🏻‍♂️and Pope c Jaiswal B Ashwin 19
    36-3. Ashwin 3/18
  • Pope sweeps Ashwin, gets a top edge and is caught.

    36-3

Bairstow going on the attack with two sixes off the first two balls of Ashwin's 7th over.

Bairstow looks imperious out there. So it won’t be long until he gets over confident, plays a stupid shot and gets out
