Might need Bellingham to drop back into the midfield 2. It's that poor in there currently.

    Foden looked anonymous too.

Defense is a whole other issue and not one I can see getting fixed unless we go back to our 3 at the back again.

Mainoo poor tonight but the boy is 19. That position needs sorting pronto and I don’t think he knows what’s best. After tonight I’d prob go Gallagher after his Bosnia performance.

It’s actually worked well with the i ain’t watching the his crew cos it weeds out the plastics.

We play like that Sunday we are fucked but I know we wont.

It won’t happen but my reactionary team for Serbia after that would be

    Pickford

    TAA Stones Guehi Trippier

    Rice Bellingham

    Saka Palmer Gordon

    Kane

Rice stays in but he was stinking almost as much as Mainoo.

Great game for Gallagher tonight and he didn’t play. Reckon he’s just shot up the pecking order.

I am now 76 and have seen some shyte performances by various England sides over the years but I can say without fear of contradiction, that that was the worst I have ever seen.
Our crossing was absolute garbage from start to finish, in fact, there was nothing of any quality on show in any shape or form.

The fact that dunk isn't even fit to be in the bench tonight makes the decision to include him over brandthwaite even more baffling

Maybe it's just me but I think Foden and England just isn't going to work.

Can't remember the last game that I felt he ran the show for us. Maybe he just can't play with Kane because they tend to hold similar positions?

    Really?

World Cup 94 qualifying with Carlton Palmer?

Can’t believe how big Rooney has got. He’s always been chunky but he’s going to give fat Evans a run for his money quite soon at this rate.

Either drop Bellingham back to play alongside rice, or play rice and Gallagher with Bellingham in the 10 and foden on the bench. Just way too crowded with foden kane and Palmer on

    Several subpar performances tonight
  • IMO we are in a worse position than in the last two tournaments. Going to be starting the opening game with a right footed left back and Foden doing a shift on the left, without a proper left winger.

Think we will miss Maguire aerial ability in both boxes.

We definitely have some world class players and have to hope they can shine at the tournament for us to have a real chance.

At least expectations won't be high going into the tournament .  That was awful but i expected no different . The last friendlies normally are. Nobody came out of that game with any credit.

100%, but the defence still worries me. Which probably means we'll win the group without conceding a goal 😂

That was pretty terrible, proper pre season feel to it

Wembley was a like a football for a fiver match, paper aeroplanes, Mexican waves, phone light show all boxes ticked

    Better improve by Sunday week

Gordon was the most dogshit lol
  • England had one shot on target the whole match. A very damming stat for a terrible night.

Think one headache Southgate has is up front. How do Kane, Foden, Palmer all play together when they tend to occupy the same space in attack build-ups?

All 3 of them love sitting just outside the D waiting to receive the ball with their back to goal or on the half-turn. However, they can't all be there at the same time, which happened multiple times during the game today.

They won’t, Bellingham will make runs beyond and hopefully Saka stays wide and runs at people. Foden is the enigma for me as he cannot replicate club form.

Maybe dropping Foden is the bold call that needs to be made and playing someone like Gordon or even Eze on the left who will stay wider. As Gary says, Saka is a more natural wide man, Bellingham will run into the space Kane leaves so, to balance it, more width on the left might be the way to go.

When you look at the squad from 2 Euros ago, it does seem mental that someone as talented as Foden might be not be an automatic starter, but it's a reflection of the options we have in attack and we can't have another Gerrard/Lampard/Scholes situation, and we don't need to because we have very good alternatives.

I feel we aren't as good as the previous two tournaments. Maybe we'll end up winning it then...

Perhaps you have worded it badly, but we did not play out in America.

There is no way a tournament winning side has Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa, Lewis Dunk etc as centre back options. I think we need a real reality check in expectations. No way in a million years should we be anywhere near favourites.
Apart from betting odds, I haven't seen any journalists/articles mentioning us as favourites.

How Gordon got in the squad over Grealish baffles me . He was awful last night

Funny how we all see the game differently, I also thought Gordon was our best attacking outlet.

Don't get what anyone sees with Dunk at international level, would be petrified if he has to play against anyone with pace. Branthwaite was the obvious selection on form.
