He had 3 decent chances and slotted two - the spin and shot for the first was exceptional - he's the only player in the squad capable of that with any reliability.
His anticipation for the 2nd made the goal simple - only the talented and attentive are in the right place at the right time as often as he.
Service to him wasn't great - something he's shouldered all season - but it was stark how much more more threatening we were throughout the game compared to the recent games he hasn't started. He ain't tall - 9 inches shorter than Miles for example - yet he's always in the mix for the hopeful high balls. He ain't especially quick but he's always right there pressing from the front, opposition defenders must hate the sight of him.
He's generous in his praise for his colleagues too and not just in that dead-eyed, media-trained 'humbleness' they're all coached to use.
Arguments can be made for others, one or two have shone more brightly for moments but, Coventry apart, he's delivered the most, most consistently in his role1 -

But, I think of our form when Jones was out, and our form when he's been playing, and there's only one winner for me...1 -

Godden would be 5th or 6th for me.
NB Godden is 12th on the statsbank (I won't mention May won POTY last season).0 -
Was gonna say - TC has to be in with a chance of POTY - between him and Jones for me0

Jones is a clear winner for me with 9 games to go, (which could change by the season's end, although the vote is usually before the season's end).1 -
Godden has felt a bit underplayed at times, and perhaps overshadowed by Ahadme at the start of the season as the big Alfie replacement striker.1

Just noticed Matty and Jay Stansfield have the same number of non-penalty goals in the league this season (9). Stansfield has 7 additional penalty goals vs Matty's 3. Brum have had the most penalties in the league.7

Can Jones elaborate on what experienced pro Alan Campbell brought to the team?3

Touched on this a few weeks ago.
Player of the season is going to be one tough task this year.
For me,Jones,Coventry,,Edwards,Small,Ramsay,Campbell are all in the frame.
Can't discount Mannion,Godden Doch or Gilesphey either!0 -

RedRobin said:Good signing, I think the fact he was on the list mentioned a while back by Cawley, tells us the club was looking at alternatives for May. Think he can bag 15-20 in a good team and has bags of experience in this league and the league above.4

The mystery is why he started so few games at the start of the season.
And that's not just with hindsight, I was excited by his signing and expected him to be good at this level.8 -

He was clearly behind the pecking order to Ahadme, which is bonkers when you look at it now. Given his age and the reliance we have for him now needing to play extended games into the play offs, it could well prove fortunate it worked out that way.3
