I think the performances since Jones has been injured speak for themselves. The defenders now play like they're strangers. Lloydy should have been made captain. It's now clear how bad communication is between the players.

Docherty hasn't shown he can address that issue.
I’m not sure how much it matters in reality, but it is odd that Lloyd Jones wasn’t made captain. He’s our most important player, he’s probably our best player too. Remember that silly 8 + 8 + 8 squad building thing? L. Jones is about the only one I would out into that first group of 8 players capable of playing a at a higher level (maybe Leaburn).

Thought he was a a bit of a coup of a signing but bar the goal against Bolton I'm not sure what he actually does. Weird choice of captain too.
I don’t think he was a weird choice of captain at all.
He’s literally the model pro in how he looks after himself, how he trains etc. He’s a lot more vocal on the pitch as well than Dobson ever was.
Problem is, he’s just not playing very well at the moment. Hopefully it’s something he can turn around, because he’s a player who should be very good at this level.
Can’t understand how Dockerty keeps getting dropped and Coventry still hasn’t think dockerty does more than Coventry I’d like to see Taylor and Dockerty pairing

I don't think I've ever seen one of your posts and not thought, what in the name of fuck is he going on about. Genuinely baffled anybody could have this opinion - apart from the Bolton goal, he's been completely anonymous.
Two incredible downgrades from NJ & AS (that have prevented us from moving forward).
It would have been hard to recruit any worse.
I don't know why people keep insisting on comparing Ahadme to May. They're completely different players and Ahadme didn't replace May, Godden did. Ahadme was signed to provide the physical holdup game that was missing last season - which currently he isn't - and Godden was signed to replace May in terms of finishing chances. Currently May has 5 league goals, but only 1 in his last 9, and Godden has 4 league goals in not far off half the number of minutes of May. It's absolutely fine to not rate Ahadme based on what he's shown so far but you have to be honest and compare May with his replacement if you're going to insist on doing that, and it's Godden.

I’m baffled what Coventry brings apart from backwards and sideways I’d like to see what his completion rate is on forward passes. He can’t take a set piece. Least he managed to get on score sheet Saturday Shame wrong end. perhaps my expectations of him are too high or the fact his nowhere near as good as Dobson. But his not doing it for me.

Think that’s trouble none of our midfield is showing much. Although as a group in the box midfield they have looked better going forward than when out numbered in the 3.
Just don’t think Docherty has been worse than any of the other midfielders none of them are piling up trees and can’t understand the hype for Coventry I find him the most frustrating midfielder we have.

Fairly sure Coventry has never once given the ball away when passing forwards.

I compare Ahadme with May because that’s where the money we got for May was reinvested.
We could have done a lot in this league with £775k but instead we wasted a large chunk of it on Ahadme.
The above (awful recruitment) is ultimately why we can’t do better than mid table.

Whoever out of Scott or Jones is ultimately responsible for recruitment has had another poor window, Mitchell aside .

Well that's something completely different to what you said. If you want to criticise how we used the May money then that's one thing, but May being a better player than Ahadme isn't relevant because they don't fill the same role. If we'd kept May then we still would have needed to recruit a physical targetman because we had a total gap there. We didn't downgrade from May to Ahadme like you said, we sold May and used to money to replace him with Godden, and then get in a player in a different role. I'm very happy to accept that so far Ahadme hasn't delivered but conflating the two just isn't accurate. Dobson and Docherty I think is a very fair comparison and that's been no contest so far.

Even if we’re talking about captain duty/leadership, a big challenge or tackle from Dobbo could offer some inspiration in a game.
Docherty does literally nothing. Wouldn’t even know he was in the pitch most games.
May > Ahadme

I don't think we need stats to tell us how he's been playing but it just underlines how poor he's been.
But he was a mainstay in a team that won this league fairly comfortably and then for a few years since has been a solid Championship midfielder.
And he’s not at an age where he’d be slowing down like a Ben Watson so I don’t believe that’s a valid explanation either.
Fairly sure Coventry has never once given the ball away when passing forwards.
Because he has never passed it forwards.

…& I think I’d rather still have Wickham!
