Great morning overall, but one negative so far is the boxing. Can't just be iffy judging and tough draws to explain five bouts and five defeats can it, with only one left to start later today I think. Unless he excels, you have to wonder what's gone wrong. The funding going forward might take a hit.
I know nothing about it, but from the outside, it looks like more than an unfortunate coincidence.
Edit - rooting for Richardson to change the narrative.
I’m becoming a big fan of the fencing! Just watching the men’s team sabre quarter final between France and Egypt and there is an incredible atmosphere! The French have come back from 12-20 down to lead 30-28!
Was being reeled in by the Frenchman, doorbell rang for a parcel delivery, then could suddenly hear the commentator saying he was going past Wilde for the gold !!!

I don't believe any member of Joe Public has a clue as to who has hit who in the fencing.

3 dodgy decisions in 5 of those.
Personally I’d fuck it off, the judges are corrupt and always have been in Olympic boxing.

It could well be, not a guarantee for the next Olympics last time I heard.
It's worth reflecting at this point on the final medal table for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, where through the course of the whole games we achieved a solitary gold (Pinsent and Redgrave).
It's why you so often hear athletes in their interviews thanking National Lottery funding...
2021 was a poor Olympics for the Rowers after so many successful Olympic games. COVID and the natural cycle of rowers retiring and the next group ready to step up (sit down!) happens.
We did appear to be down the river without a paddle in Tokyo but great to see GB competing again and back with a gold with the last stroke of the blades and beating the double, double Dutch in the women's Quad sculls.
Luke Greenbank GB, wins his 200 metre backstroke heat but is disqualified for staying underwater too long after a turn. Surprised by that as he must've practiced that thousands of times 🤷🏻♂️
Anyone else outraged that this child rapist is still competing? Just seen him get introduced and there didn't seem to be a lot of hostility when his name was announced.
Maybe one of our resident arbiter can come on to give an idea as to why he's even considered for selection in the first place, regardless of the reception he's been getting. Is it considered progressive nowadays?
Nb - For those who aren't aware, In 2014, when he was 19, he raped a 12 year old British girl. He met his victim on Facebook and travelled from Amsterdam to the UK and attacked the girl at an address in Milton Keynes.

I doubt you’ll find that anyone will argue that he should be there, he shouldn’t. Frankly, the only place he should be is in a prison cell.

The IOC said it's up to the individual counties and not them.
The Dutch basically said they believe in rehabilitation etc.
I think it's awful, not hard to just pick the second best volleyball team to represent you given I'd presume they don't include a child rapist.

USA’s David Berkhoff qualified for the 1988 Games using a backstroke start known as the ‘Berkhoff blast-off’, where he would use a dolphin kick underwater for as long as possible, swimming faster than on the surface of the water.
The 100m Backstroke final in Seoul saw the three medallists – Japan’s Daichi Suzuki, USA’s David Berkhoff and USSR’s Igor Polianski – all swim between 30m and 35m of their first length underwater with a dolphin kick.
World governing body FINA reacted by restricting the distance a swimmer could remain submerged at the start of each length, initially to 10m, then in 1991 to 15m.

Even more bizarre is that he's since got married. What woman would want to get with someone who raped a 12 year old?!

Amazing finish!
Girls rowing was nail bitingly exciting.

Fell off basically straight away.
