Our bmx girl is a joke

edit: just see her interview. What a ledge.

Yeah - now that's a definite point. It's almost impossible to catch it on camera, and they're so good at it that it requires loads of spotters to check - with the penalties seeming pretty arbitrary tbh

Extraordinary acceleration. Others start as fast at her, then she suddenly hits the boost button and surges clear.

Ridiculous sport anyway, then you fond out that they're basically all cheating and it's just who can cheat the most but be sneaky about it... actually that last bit is sort of convincing me on it again.
  • Put as many mealy mouthed statements  out as they like men have no place hitting women at all and certainly not in sport.

All the mental gymnastics justifying it.  The boxer is a man and has been determined so.  Not sporting to allow men to compete in most sports against women let alone in combat sports.

Child rapists and men fighting women.  Awful what the olympics has become.
You’re irrationally obsessed with transgenders mate….

I read that they installed special cameras a few years back to detect when both feet were off the ground or knees were bent. But the cameras found that so many racers were so breaking the rules so frequently that they just got rid of the technology in the end. Leaves me wondering what the rules actually are.
    where did you see that?

there is no requirement to have both feet on the ground so installing something to detect it would be very odd and a complete waste of money

the rule is that there must be no visible (to the human eye) loss of contact with the ground.

the 'to the human eye' part is explicit, technology cannot be used
I think you misread that... Didn't say both feet had to be ON the ground. But that would be very funny. Like if the ministry of silly walks were a race.

    no, I didn't misread, I mistyped

I meant to say there's no requirement to have any contact with the ground at any moment, only to appear so to the naked eye. both feet off the ground is perfectly fine and within the rules

the 2 feet on the ground thing would be good though

    She was good.

Anyone care to.explain the rules of this particular sport. I thought the commentators said that you add up the points from the 3 heats they did....1 point for coming 1st, 2 for 2nd etc....with the lowest points total being the best. So in this instance our girl has got just 3 points and miles ahead of the rest at this time.

But then there is a SF & Final. I'm hoping they take these points forward & not a one off like the canoe slalom, because the British girl in the BMX race was seriously far better than the rest & deserves Gold already.

Points are not carried over. Semi final is two races, same point system.

    Final is a single race.

If you can multi task you are a woman.
If you can't you are a Man.

I'm a man as I struggle to watch Tennis, Swimming, and Triathlon at the same time on TV, Laptop and phone at the same time as my wife tells me about her friends holidays, our neighbour who has gone off with the handy man, her bestie friend who's daughter is now gay, the road works in the main road, our daughter's showbiz  itinerary for August, the plants need watering when she away, my son's sporting itinerary for August, birthday cards that need posting...

"Come on Andy and Dan, get in there, Yee you star, Pidcock you Golden geezer, Hales, you Kentish brilliant shooter, GB girls you are fantastic to win with the last stroke in the 4's sculls..."

"Yes, I will alter the program so the hot water only comes on once a day from tomorrow, cut down the Ivy, sort out the bins, as I'm on my own for a week  but can't you write this all down as I need to concentrate on the Single sculls, Hockey, Football, and Athletics is starting..."

    Men are from Mars
    Women are from Venus
    Some men love cars
Some women love a ??? genius

11.20am for the lightweight women's double sculls final.
Emily Craig and Imogen Grant haven't lost since Tokyo in any international comp since being beaten on the line in 2021.

This event has been dropped from LA Olympics 28 for some reason ?

So what's the point of the heats & semi final if the final is just a one off. It's the same riders in all those rounds so it's not like they are eliminating anyone.

Too many to run in a single race. I think the fastest times are carried forward and give you preferred selection on starting positions.
  • Silver in the mens double Rowing , got overhauled in the last 50 by the world champion Croatians.
  • Silver in men's double sculls reeled in at the end by the Croatians

  • Been such fine margins for the brits in so many events in this Olympics. Some for us and some against. Heartbreaking stuff at times

    Mens Rowing.
Mens pairs final and GB Ollie Wynne-Griffith and Tom George beaten on the line after being in the lead for 99% of the race but the brilliant Croatia brothers won again with a late surge.

Another silver that looked Gold with 200 metres to go.
  • Feels greedy to say this, but it’s a real shame that a couple of those rowing silvers couldn’t have been gold.
