  • Impressive how well we've done in the swimming with the lack of facilities we have.
Indeed, just the 796 public swimming pools to train at, including 53 that are Olympic length (50m).
The UK has 14 Olympic size pools (50x25m) with a 15th being built in Cambridge. Paris has 20.

Felt sorry for the Chinese gymnast that messed up her routine and bonked her head on the trampoline surround. Not for long admittedly, but that's got to have hurt.

Just won a silver in the rowing, with the world's most annoying BBC commentary team who gave it to the UK at 200m.

Actually I feel the standard of BBC commentators has been pish-poor this year, and I really cant see how Jeanette Kwakye warrants a sofa position. Shes no Des Lynham, more Des O'Connor with her fake laughter.
The rowing commentary hurts the ears. Agree about some of the other commentators - the tennis twosome have been a little err biased in their coverage of Andy's swansong performances.

I do like the boxing team though and the gymnastics trio are a blast - Matt Baker trying to be upbeat whilst chatting away to a bloke who sounds like Johnny Vegas and being put in his place by the all knowing 'Chris' who has that same dead pan put down about detail as Esme Young on Sewing Bee.
Haha! know exactly what you mean about the Johnny Vegas bloke. I couldn't listen to it without imagining him sitting there talking about the routines and their mistakes whilst thinking 'well you couldn't do it Johnny!!'

In gold position for the team jumping final with one rider from each team left.
  • Bryony Page, such a lovely lady. Can't get over the look on her face at the medal ceremony.

Plus 41 other 50 metre pools, including University of Bath and Manchester Aquatic Centre which aren't too bad at turning out decent swimmers. We are fortunate that in the Olympics they swim lengths rather than widths.

Plus 796 other pools, the vast majority of which host swimming clubs that build the strength we have in the sport.

  • Is the 50m pool at Hornfair Park still there? Used to use it before I moved.

The female rowing commentator has the most annoying high-pitched schreech of a voice. I'm sure I recognise it from football on the BBC. I have to turn the volume down or off when it's her commentating.
    I....particularly.....hate.....the.....stressing......of........one.......word.......from.......the.....next
reminds me of the old Clubcall stretching how long you had to wait on the phone.

As long as we do as well. One more clean run all that's needed! I think anyway.

Irish guy just had a horrible run.

I do think it’s impressive how many different sports we are picking our medals up in - think we have 8 golds from 7 different sports. Compare that to China (diving), US (gymnastics), or France (swimming).
