Jones is desperately chucking out any positive statements he can lately (as he knows he’s on borrowed time & should be gone by now in light of the crap he’s serving up on the pitch).
In addition to his Godden v May comparison, we’ve heard…
”We’ve been excellent in the cups” (even though we played U21 kids in one of those competitions & just got past non league Southend in the other!)
”We had more shots than Crawley”
”We’re improving & not in a bad place!”
“We now have a team of players that want to play for Charlton” (like we should be grateful that players that are paid thousands want to play).
100% time for the guy to go. I’m hoping the only reason it hasn’t happened yet is because the cost needs rubber stamping from the yanks or we’re waiting for confirmation that a successor we have lined up is ready to join.5 -
It's honestly not even worth a discussion. He's the best striker in the league, and was our best player by a mile.
Godden isn't anywhere near him and it's unfair on Godden to compare them at this stage. Would have been more fair if it was Godden 4 years ago.15 -
May offers so much more on the pitch than Godden, and if you can't see that then you're either purposely ignoring it or are a moron. Our front 3 was so immobile last night, and part of the problem is Godden is only useful inside the box. May would run for the shirt for every second he was on the pitch, Godden is largely anonymous for huge periods of play.

I think that’s the crux of it. N. Jones has a clear idea in his mind of how he wants his team to play and the types of players that are required for that system. That’s why we’ve ended up with a number of midfielders that are basically the same.sm said:

The only problem is that the outcome of Jones’ vision of the structure of the squad has been a fairly enormous disaster.5 -

He’s well beyond his best before date and is looking about time for the bin.
As for Ahadme, he came on fell over twice unchallenged and that was that.7 -

They're finally playing him as a striker and he's scored 3 in 2. Think Stansfield is going to get pushed into playing behind. Not bad to kick a £15 million man out of the position.1
