Actually pathetic that anyone wanted him sacked this season. What he’s achieved in 2 years is incredible, doubt there’s another team in the football league that has progressed that much in that time
Would also say it’s absolutely pathetic that people think it’s pathetic to criticise him, when you see that first half showing and tactics… whether you are pro Jones or not, surely anyone, anyone, can see that criticism and concerns about him are fully vindicated
The difference is between criticising NJ and saying he should be sacked.
Many on here don’t see the difference and/or think his name is sacrosanct and any criticism is Charlton life treason and should be punished by death

he got us promoted for which I’m eternally grateful but fuck me if you’ve watched us this season you can’t be of sound mind if you can’t at least empathise with people wondering or raising the question as to whether he’s the man for the long term
I don't think that's true but I do think some of those who are critical of NJ tend to overreact to the tiniest bit of pushback and claim you can't criticise NJ etc.

Just want to be able to watch a football team that doesn't look like they actively don't want the ball for large parts of the game.

Is that too much to ask?
Youre not allowed to think like that, as its ungrateful.

Sorry mate but I don't think that's true. Even the people who don't want him sacked have criticised him. He's not perfect but he got us here and given our bottom three budget, keeping us up was always going to be a battle.
  • Still in the we should of sacked him 10 games ago camp, I’ll get pelted for it but I don’t think his style of football will keep us up.

I have no idea what some of you expected from this season. We have a low budget and we’re six points above the drop with 12.5 games to go. I would have bitten your hand off for that in July
Is any kind of identity or plan when in possession too much to ask?
I'm not saying it's perfect or we can't improve but we're still in a better position than most of us expected
    For how much longer?

Fevrier is actually the slowest wide player I've ever seen.

Look, I'm not going to pretend it was pretty or that I'm satisfied with the football but that is 1 point closer to safety. We would all like to play better football but the equation just got a bit tougher for those below us and that's all I really care about at this point in the season

If we stay up, Jones stays, I zip it in this thread, happy days. But my god we did a bit of Conor Coventry (alright and Dykes) assisted burglary there

He’s churning out the points and that’s all that matters this season. I doubt Jones is enjoying a season like this either but needs must in our progression up the league.

It's clear that it is stay up at all costs and (hopefully) rebuild over the summer. I think we'll do it because I can't see more than a maximum of 3 teams overhauling us. It's frustrating to watch, there only seems to be 2 triggers for us to actually try to attack: either go behind or wait til the 70th minute.

At the moment it’s go behind and wait to the 60/70th minute 😂.

Ultimately it’s about staying up this season, and we’ve got a good chance of being able to do that.

I don’t really care how we play, or how we get results as long as we do.

Until then not sure what this rat race is to try and be the first to prove your view about Nathan Jones. It’s all a bit weird.

Who knows. If we actually tried to win a game we might win one, lose two, but that is better than somehow fluking two draws with ultra negative play and losing one

really?! we somehow burgled a point thanks to their moment of madness defending so we got a point

but as a performance that was as ineffective as it's possible to conceive of against a team in that form who we almost made look like play off chasers at moments

we are so so bad. Come on, surely we can offer more than that? Do we really need to be that awful, that negative, that non league? We looked like an isthmian league team turning up in a cup 3rd round game going for a shock

If this is what it takes to stay up this season so be it I’m more than happy to do it if it means no league 1. But this is not gonna help us progress as a club in the long run got to get some midfielders who can help us go after teams

I'm amazed at how many people say they don't care what the football is like.  If the result is all that matters, they could stay at home and check the result at the end of the game.

All about context. In the context of staying up I don't particularly care, going forward I will care more

Yeah, because watching us smash and grab a 90 minute winner is the least fun I’ve ever had at  a football match.

    Perhaps because we are realists.
I really don't know what you expected with us being promoted via the play-offs and having one of the smallest budgets in the division.
Would you be happy if we tried to play expansive football with players that aren't up to it and got picked off week in week out and were now in the drop zone?

Will never understand Jone's tactics, if you can call them that. For someone so defensive who plays 6 defenders each bloody game!! with a team with no attacking flair, who create nothing why on earth does he play 2 strikers and 2 strikers who are not very mobile aswell. Why not have an extra midfielder sitting behind Carey who can be a bit front footed like he always cries about in his interviews.

So do you prefer us grinding out 1-1 draws with West Brom in the Championship... OR... Do you prefer us losing 2-3 vs. Port Vale in League One under Dean Holden? - Because I'm sure the game was a lot more fun in the latter... Eh
Dont start kidding yourselves, if we played like prime Barcelona under Jones, and were in 23rd, the same calls for him to go would be on here

Forget all this budget bollocks, are you telling me we are not better then, Sheff W, Oxford, WBA, Blackburn, Pompey.  Are you telling me we are not just as good or there or there abouts with the likes Norwich, Stoke, Swansea, QPR, Watford, Derby, PNE ,Bristol City  even poxy Hull.

Everyone on here makes out that all of us who are not Jones fans are the negative ones but it's not, it's the ones who enjoy watching the shit he serves up every week that are. I beleive this squad should be finising mid table easily. I beleive we should be attacking the shit teams down the bottom and actually try and beat them. I think we should be more reserved against the other midtable teams that I said said we are as good as, and I think we should play Jones ball against the big teams who we know are much better then us, soak it up and hope for the best. That should def not be every game though.

Isn’t that what the league table actually says?
