Heard these numbers from someone reliable. So choose to believe or not. Grant was WBA highest paid player by some distance. He was closing on nearly 40k a week with them. WBA paying silly money for years hence nearly went out of business.NabySarr said:

Grant was on 25k a week at west brom in the championship, on a contract he signed when he was at his peak. He's definitely not on that much anymore

I think our wage budget has definitely increased. We are carrying a bigger squad now and a few of our signings will be on decent money. I'd guess the budget has increased slightly but as I said, a slight increase is not enough when the rest of the championship have increased theirs by much more.J BLOCK said:
Simply that is just not true, it’s clear to see. The Rak Sakyi money hasn’t been spent either.NabySarr said:
Carter said our budget has increased, that might be true. The problem is when the rest of the championship increase their budgets by more, we get left behind. That is what has happened, the new financial rules have allowed teams to spend more money and they have, we haven't and it shows in the squad we have vs every team we play againstDubaiCAFC said:Or has Gavin Carter been lying to us about budgets?
I'm not a fan that acts entitled and thinks the owners should just spend spend spend big money that's unsustainable. The bare minimum I expect is for them to spend enough to keep us progressing and they have failed to do that this season1 -
But it is down to him and Chapple that they’ve wasted some of that budget on players like Alli, Ouma and Skipp.NabySarr said:
It wasn’t down to him that we had no money to sign a good midfielder and didn’t sign a right winger this summer. Alli was clearly not signed to be first choice, for a 1.5m backup winger he's not terrible. Skipp and Ouma were obviously signed when we realised we had no money to sign a good midfielder like Jones had been begging for in every interview since about March last season. I bet he's as frustrated as we are when he looks at his midfield and winger optionsThe Red Robin said:

I honestly think it’s the opposite compared to Bowyer. People blindly believed in him because he was “one of our own”. Look at the age of this thread - for 2 of Jones’ 2.5 years people have been calling for his head. Yet in that timeframe he’s been our most successful manager since Curbs. It’s madness, but such is modern football.CAFC_boi said:It’s like when anyone suggested Lee Bowyer should be sacked - he had the same cult like following. The football has always been terrible, even in the promotion season but you don’t mind when you’re getting results. Now we have terrible football and terrible results so what’s even the point.Jones has been dealt a bad hand but his recruitment is partly to blame for that.I also think the squad is much better than it’s given credit for, we’ve just lost all identity, leadership and any form of style of play, so no one has a clue what they’re supposed to be doing and that comes down to the manager.0 -
To be clear, arguing against SCP feels unnatural!2

If they think Chalobah is on 19k a week I'm not sure you can call them reliable anymore. It's a load of bollocks as is most of the stuff you see from people's sources about player wages. He was trialling to earn a deal at Sheffield Wednesday before he came to us, they are only allowed to offer players something like 7.5k a week under the restrictions the EFL put on them.DubaiCAFC said:

Grant was on 25k a week at west brom in the championship, on a contract he signed when he was at his peak. He's definitely not on that much anymoreNo other championship club wanted him. So he’s probably on a bottom end championship/top end league 1 wage given that’s where he’s ended up being in demand. 7-10k a week based on all of that. To me that seems a lot more likely than your “source’s” 19k a week2 -
How can it not be a bad squad? We don’t have a right winger or right wing back. That alone makes it a bad squad because it means we don’t have a formation that worksDubaiCAFC said:

At the moment getting rid of Nathan is not the answer. Yes he should take some of the blame for the way we've been playing but I'm sorry to say the Owners have given him nothing in the season that mattered most after survival against Hull. I think like some fans they should get pelters not just for a lack of player investment but other areas like ticket prices and appalling facilities.
It shows they have zero experience of football and to appear to say they are closing their wallets is shameful. Nathan can only do what he has with what he's got and he ain't got a lot. I think he's been too loyal in the past to some players but I think most of them are not without fault themselves. The lack of effort in the last few games has been unforgivable.
All in all we're in a terrible mess limping towards another transfer window hoping to pull out a couple of choice players with no money as I very much doubt there will be any JRC money available if there was to begin with.
I feel we've been fed a line and taken for idiots by the club but I say again sacking Nathan's is not the answer as any Manager would struggle with what is still essentially a League One team punching above it's weight and getting smashed every week.
Is there an answer..... Probably not... It seems very bleak at present but some honesty from the Owners would be nice as they're extremely silent.

Some of the blind optimism and support of Jones is breathtaking. We have not won in NINE games.I posted on another forum that we will not win in ten games. One game to go. I can’t see where the next win is coming from. I am not convinced that changing the manager will work but the players look devoid of self confidence. Defence was our bedrock but that is now as bad as the midfield and attack. Jones doesn’t know what his best team is.JONES OUT.1

Not sure Bowyer is the answer.
People might shit on it but Steve Cooper is a shout. Good tactician and can work on a budget. Even better he is outstanding with getting youth up to speed and playing to potential quick.6 -
