Unnecessarily chippy post match comments from NJ, but it’s who he is so we probably best get used to it. The comments about “learning a lot about certain people” were interesting as they seemed to be pretty clearly directed into the club, not outwards towards fans. Wonder who/what he was alluding to.
1/2 Andy Scott. I can't see who else's day to day job it is to constructively criticise Jones (obviously Rodwell and then the board higher up the line).
Don't know about anyone else, but I was expecting Mark Fish to come out looking like a bloated whale when he was announced. Couldn't believe the trim figure that emerged, in fact I didn't recognise him at first and was looking around. Sorry Mark, no offence
Recognised him straight away from the west stand car park with Sean Bartlett at around 1130 Saturday morning, instantly recognisable allowing for the past years.
A great morale booster going into the 2-week international break.
I really hope we stick with a back 4 (for at least most of the games), as Ramsey, Edwards, Jones and Mitchell appear to be as good a backline as any in this division. I really don't think we need Gillesphey or Potts as a third central defender.
As others have said, most other teams in League 1 will present a very different challenge in this division, especially those who come to The Valley and park the bus or at least concentrate on getting numbers behind the ball. I still think we need more creativity in midfield, although abandoning the incessant long balls is certainly a welcome start.
We have a very decent group of players up front and hopefully Miles Leaburn will have progressed further towards full fitness in a fortnight's time. Tyreece Campbell can provide us with some real width, although you can see yesterday the impact he made coming off the bench for the last half hour, so I suspect that's how he'll be utilised for the time being unless Kanu's injury is significant.
Only real disappointment yesterday were the home numbers. One of only two relatively high profile games this season but numbers wise it was very low, smaller than other homes this season. West and East quite noticeably.
Don't thing the recent form + Cat A pricing would have helped, but I suspect better numbers were hoped.
I presume once Brum sold out weeks ago, the tickets were taken off general sale?
Between now and Jan would like to see us tying down a number of (particularly academy boys) down to longer deals on better wages. The likes of DK, Campbell & Leaburn, would be easier to negotiate with them all now, as I feel like the goals will come at some point for that trio in particular

Considering they sold out there seemed to be plenty of empty seats in the JS.

Agreed…what’s our contract situation with Ramsay do you know?

I believe we signed him on a 3 +1 year deal last Jan (stand to be corrected on this) so should be okay there for now while we focus on more immediate priorities, but can imagine him asking for a bumper new deal if he keeps this form up
If you serve up turgid binary number football at home, then regularly embarass yourself away, then attendance numbers will never rise. Brum may be headliners on a par with WrexhamLA but as you have routinely said on here AFKA, an awful lot of damage has been done in the last 10 years.

Yea for sure, well worth it and hope we can keep hold of him, he’ll be going up the divisions, just hope we as a club are on the same trajectory and keep hold of him!

Lloyd Jones out of contract next July. Need to tie him down to a new deal asap.
Another thing. Can we keep Edwards on set-piece delivery. (I mean, other than perhaps free kicks just outside the box. Then you may as well toss a coin)
Yes, his corners were very good and confirmation of this, is that I can't recall one comment saying the corners were poor.

I suspect games being on TV have a lot to do with it, it’s easier than it’s ever been both legally and via a dodgy firestick.

Leaburn, Lloyd Jones, Small and Zach Mitchell are all out of contract next summer so assume they’re the current priority.
Kanu’s deal is until 2027 and TC to 2026 but with an optional further year so I doubt we’ll be talking to them about new deals for a while.

If people knew ahead of time they were getting that performance from yesterday, you can add 2000-3000 to the attendance easily IMO.
People saw three losses in a row and decided to chuck in the towel. Home ticket sales will be up for Stockport in two weeks I have no doubt about it.

I have this about right.
I have 2 kids, one very new and was going to make the effort to get down the valley yesterday for the first time in a month or 2.
if I’m being honest the last two performances made me decide to bank the brownie points instead and stay home. Hindsight I wish I’d gone and probably would’ve done if we’d been better recently

I hope you are correct as I love a rocking Valley but looking at the numbers I can’t see it.
Yesterdays attendance was given as16,250, let’s believe that is true and round it down to 16,000
That is 8,000 season ticket holders, 3,000 away fans meaning there were 5,000 walk up’s yesterday.
Lets say Stockport bring 2,000, 8,000 season ticket holder’s means you are looking for 6,000 walk up’s to equal yesterday
I am sure Airman could add to this but can’t see it

Sadly there's no way we sold 5,000 tickets for yesterday. Would be interested to know how many we did sell.

That’s why I said “let’s believe”, to me it looked more like 12-13k in the ground

Don't do it. Once it's been seen, it can never be unseen.
