I’ve tried my best on many occasions to defend the club’s commercial team as I think relatively they’ve done a good job.
This however is fucking embarrassing and I hope someone gets the boot for it.
For the sake of what could amount to a grand, maybe two, we’re a bit of a laughing stock
Surely a pair. One boot with Wrexham on it, one Charlton.
We're a laughing stock, but more for being an established average L1 footballing team now than for any attempt to raise revenue. Hoping someone loses their job for it? Unbelievable.
This is one of Wrexham's biggest league away games for many years so this is purely for them. If I see anyone over the age of 15 wearing one with a Charlton shirt I'll probably strangle them with it. Having said that it could actually go viral.......
Half & Half scarves should be reserved for occasions like a visit by Barcelona in the CL for the first team or a Wembley final maybe but for the visit of Wrexham? In League One? Its an effing joke and a major embarrassment. Wouldn't want these gimmicks even in the PL. Pathetic attempt at sweating the asset.

Don't they say there's no such thing as bad PR?
Wrexham haven't even sold out, so this isn't for the sub 3k actual fans they've got coming, is it?
And who gives a fuck about going viral when you're pissing off those who actually turn up and pay money week in week out.
What may have started out as good commercial strategy has gone well overboard and I would go as far as saying it's damaged our own brand.

Are the 'H' and 'R" sections of the West Stand and the 'A" and "B' sections of the East stand reserved for comps, or will the club put some/all of the seats up for grabs in the event that the rest of the home areas are sold out?
Interesting to see how the thread quickly went from “I can see why we’re leaning into the Wrexham thing” to “we are embarassing”
Surprised it took this to finally tip the scale considering practically every marketing ploy by the club has subtlety made Wrexham the true attraction of the occasion rather than our own club.
Half the turnstiles for the Curbs stand by the covered end don’t work or operate. I hope the advanced largesse the club had got in due to this game means they all will be working because of the large crowd expected. Two days to get the turnstiles fully operational.

Surprised it took this to finally tip the scale to be honest.
it’s the difference between trying to sell more tickets and something stupid that will bring a tiny amount of money
We, as a fanbase, truly kicked off at one of our previous owners because she once used the word “customers” in passing.
Yet with this whole Wrexham thing there has been a lot more turning of a blind eye to the marketing of it just to get the extra pound notes, even at the expense of our own identity and reputation.
Ok I’m ever the optimist check my previous posts I defended batshit crazy TS. I defend this lot all of the time but this is beyond defence ! It’s just plain embarrassing 😳 it’s fucking Wrexham ffs 🤦♂️
I don't think anyone is defending half and half scarves as a good idea per se. But from my point of view having had cancer last year, it focuses your mind somewhat on what is important in your life and what isn't.
Half and half scarves are awful things, but it will take a lot more than that to embarrass me/upset me these days.
If it won't be important in 10 years time, then it's not important enough now for me to get wound up about.
Certainly not going to be buying any half and half scarves, but there will be people who certainly will.
This game is clearly being aimed at targeting all and everybody - both with merch and tickets- and with Red, White and Black Day bringing around 300-400 young school kids, half and half scarves are a easy few quid!
Too many fans are quick to moan and whatever the club does to either try and increase revenues or try and get more bums on seats - and yet will be the same to moan that transfer budgets are ‘small’ or that we have to sell players to balance the books…
yes it’s awkward/cringe, but it’s not aimed at 75% of the fanbase! Our fanbase is weirdly so self important

half and half scarves are embarrassing at best of times, and should be sold by the dodgy stalls near a ground.
Has anyone from the club come out and explained why there is not a Charlton v Stevenage scarf
proper weirdo

Can't believe there's people trying to defend this.
Wouldn't look out of place as one of Katrien's bright ideas.
What next, inviting a YouTuber as a special guest?
I think it's a great idea. I'll get there early to buy them up
* to be very clear: I do not wish to buy one, I'm as embarrassed as anyone else.
