POST-MATCH THREAD: Charlton Athletic v Mansfield Town: Saturday 14th December 2024: KO 15:00

Charlton in poor form under pressure for a positive result and Mansfield having lost four of their last five meant this was always likely to be a dud at The Valley. Both sides struggled throughout to make anything out of their numerous chances, but it was the Charlton side that had the better of the second half and will feel more aggrieved as they should have had a penalty when Marcus Leaburn was wrestled down in the box.

We’re not good enough to beat Mansfield Town, nor more than half of the League One clubs we’re up against. Sad.

  • It's just depressing.
  • We are going nowhere good. He’s got to go.
  • Second half was ok but comparing to a very low bar and you know at the start of next game we will play our normal drab game rather than try and attack

  • Poor but expected to lose. A better team would have won against us. Mansfield were also poor and their finishing........
  • Sounds like I was lucky to be stuck at home with this blasted cold. Have missed two marvelous games this week because of it.
    I'll wind as they say.
  • Go back home to Wales Nathan, cause you are not wanted in The Valley.

It's got to be Lime Bike for Nathan

I think he will regret that Lime Bike comment  :D
  • Very poor and really should have been a defeat if they hadn’t blazed it over from 6 yards out. We did at least do the bare minimum in the second half and create a couple of chances, so looking forward to Jones saying it’s the best game he’s coached since he only allowed Man City to have 3 shots.

    Something to build on.
Agree. And keep playing the way we did second half. Defenders and midfielders looking to play and move into space not launch it straight to the opposing centre backs.
If we keep playing that way, Jones can stick around.
If we revert to hoofball again then get rid.
    Woooooooooosssssshhhhh!
  • Some of the worst finishing I can remember by both sides.
  • Slightly better second half, but midfield continues to be AWOL. With Jones back we look more solid defensively, but forward guile and movement missing.

  • He will talk the same b*ll*cks in his post match!!!!!!!
  • At least the referee gives NI another excuse…
  • Another cracker.
  • Could be worse. If we had lost we'd be 17th & a place lower than we finished last season.
  • For those that couldn't watch today, here's the highlights..............

I’m shocked how bad Leaburn is at the moment. I think Jones has drained the confidence and energy out of him and this team with his intense management style.
  • Please let the season be over ..
