I thought that was a joke, just seen it’s a genuine quote.
That can't be a quote after today's game, surely?
    It is

“Everyone was trying to win a game and that's what I'm proud of. I'm proud of that performance, not that we were fluent, but the work rate in difficult conditions.."

"I'm proud that they stuck at it, they were brave, they tried to play on a difficult pitch and create chances."

He is seriously deluded. Nice one Nath, a team we can all be proud of. We're brave, front-footed and going after teams.

    1-2 Crawley. 0-0 Lincoln, 0-2 Orient. 0-0 Mansfield.

Genuine question not on a wind up.

would you honestly rather he said we’re utter garbage and he’s out of ideas?

again people acting surprised that jones is trying to find positives from a load of shite but that’s literally his job.

If he said it how it was he’d be sacked and we’d all be accusing him of giving up and still having no idea
What we would like him to say is that the squad is carrying a load of past it freeloaders and misfits and there will be a big clear out in January.
That way there may at least be a connection with the fans, as it is the truth.

I'd rather he didn't try and insult our intelligence by talking as though we've just dug in and got a point away at Birmingham. Announcing he is "proud of that performance" when we've just drawn at home to a Mansfield side who had lost 5 league games on the bounce coming into today and who probably should've been ahead at half time is honestly pathetic.
Completely agree - and have added a bit to your post above.

    "Proud"? Proud of that? Really???!!!

I'm sure his remarks aren't aimed at us but are for the owners
  • Much better today cause we tired to play football … and if Anderson and Leaburn take their chances and the ref gives us the cert pen on Leaburn things would look a lot better .. but second half we were only team looking to win and very positive from Jones who really could not do anymore today as manager

    Err.... Resign ?
  • 1 win in 8 league games.

2 wins in 13 league games.

When's it going to click again?
1 goal in 4 games three of which at home.

What have you learn today Nathan
  • Just a reminder - a 14,000 crowd would mean the home stands were over 50% occupied. Looked more like 30% to me.
So if the home ends - which total around 24,000 - were 30% full that means ~8,000 in the home ends and, say, 1,700 in the away end (was impressed with their following). So in total something like 10,000 there today which felt right.

I was in the disabled section (had a knee op on Monday) down in the very south end of the West Stand and the attendance looked really bad from there:

  • Starting to get the faint whiff of bullshit!  Has Jones The Shite done his postmatch interview yet?
    Just read last weeks
  • I hope to fuck my wife hasn't gotme Charlton tickets for Christmas. It's so grim at the moment

  • Actually encouraged and heartened by that performance against a well drilled Nigel Clough side. I was expecting a lot, lot worse. Particularly heartened by Miles's contribution. He actually looked interested and energised for once. No obvious passengers and a second clean sheet in the league since our Captain has returned. My glass is definitely half full or my expectations are perhaps a lot lower than some on here.
    Thanks Mrs NJ
  • Another game on a knife edge but lacking any real quality up front, despite us ending with four strikers on the pitch. Mansfield were on top first half, we had a decent spell in the second, but neither side did enough to deserve the win. The ref? Gave them everything, though thankfully we didn’t give him the chance to point to the spot.

The bigger concern for me is how flat we’ve become. At the start of the season, the energy was there; now it’s like the team’s either burnt out or stopped buying into Jones’ plan. For those calling for his head, who do you actually think we can get? Personally, I’d give him January to sort the squad. Knee-jerk changes now might just set us back even further.

Jones can't be trusted to sign players - he's signed some real donkeys...
& scott signed some dead donkeys. Where's that Belgian scout who sat in his bedroom all day ?
  • All the players are a credit to our club. They play with enthusiasm and commitment and it's a pleasure to see them from my seat at the Valley.

Fair do's  to the Mansfield fans who applauded them. Beating top teams across the country well done the Upbeats I'm sure we are are all proud of them.  Unlike the shower that were on the pitch either side of the Upbeats appearance

You’ll be waiting a long time for that.

It’s the usual football sound bites and always will be.

anyone who thinks any manager will front up and say it like it really is needs to give their head a wobble
  • Gillesphey constantly proves he’s not good enough for the team. No intensity, too many missed passes and not keeping up with the play. Would rather see Dan Potts playing there.
Best technical player at the club though according to Jones. How lucky we are to have him.

    Sounds ideal for our team.
  • I was getting into it when five of our own boys were getting the band back together. I loved watching them as a group coming through.
AMB in goal, but at last TC moved to his best position, Anderson getting well into it, Kanu and Leaburn causing trouble up front.
That all stopped when Berry came on.
It was chite today and we were lucky not to lose.

  • First time I have posted after a Charlton game, mainly due to personal reasons and thought it best to comment and give myself to be calm and collected, but Jesus Christ, it is the same shit, week in and week out. Even if he tried to change tactics I could understand. but I don't think the problem lies solely square on Jones. He hasn't been the manager for the last 5 years. The Recruitment of players has been a complete disaster. We have too many bad players who lack ability, lack of coaching, tactical awareness.  I am fed up with watching hoof ball every week. We are like the Wimbledon or Cambridge of the 80's without the players. We can't even do hoof ball that well. Every game is the same. It is boring crap shit. We should have 2 definite penalties today. But thanks the low standard of refereeing they were not given (not that that we deserved them). But I am fed up with watching shit league 1 football. I have a season ticket. I looked forward to the drinks with friends before and after. Sod the game. The game is an inconvenience. I will get a season ticket next year, but I need my head tested. Why?

People won’t like it but NJ’s post match interview is one of a manager who has been told he won’t be sacked and has time.
Which is the correct way to do things. No knee jerk reactions. Just let hom assemble his squad the way he wants. We now have January & the summer window to plan for next season. We aren't getting relegated this season so time to take stock & go again.
How are you certain we aren’t going down?
Because we have the knack of picking up points and even winning the odd game here & there. Relegation threatened teams have bad goal differences & often lose by 2 or 3. We are crap going forward & cant score more than 1 or 2 in a match so wont be threatening the top 6 but we dont concede many either & so wont be losing many either.

Who ? Dan Dan the injury prone man. He has been injured most of the season so far, not knocking you for your dislike of Gillesphey but replacing him with a man made of  Balsa wood may not be the answer.
Best option we have in that position until hopefully some January signings, which is also when Potts’ contract runs out

    Photos don't lie.
  • Just over 60 years following CAFC this is the lowest point . I don’t blame Nathan Jones or the other managers I blame the wankers who appointed them . They have no feelings for our great club they are fucking leeches.

More in the east stand than normal, I suppose that is where the free tickets were.

A shame Peter Varney, and others,  are not at the club.

Gotta say, it looks closer to 24,000 on that evidence
