Every. Single. Week. It’s the same response. The starting 11 in whatever guise, system or formation never look like getting a result. So he has to change it. Every. Single. Week. Rather than him playing that as something he should receive credit for, to me, and plenty of others I’m sure, it’s the sign of someone who cannot get his players to operate how he wants them to so has no choice but to change things.
Only 54 long balls (passes of 35 yards or longer) attempted in the match which is our lowest number since the opening day of the season against Wigan (52).
54 might also seem high to be “lowest since” but for context, Birmingham had 50 long balls attempted today. And in the Premier League, Liverpool counted 49.

If an Appleton team had turned in the Crawley, Lincoln, Orient and today’s performance fans would have been apoplectic.
All four or these performances and Burton although we won have been a disgrace.
Just read Ronnie Moores comments as well. Unbelievable I watch Charlton in very rose tinted glasses but even they have been thrown in the bin after today
I’m laid up at home with a stomach bug, shivers, the s**** and feel wiped.
Sounds like I had a better afternoon than anyone at the game
I had a stomach bug a couple of weeks ago, lost 1/2 st in 4 days and wiped me out, since then I’ve picked up a chest infection on antibiotics ( first time in 15 years) and to top it all off was coughing coming down the stairs and missed the last three and done my knee this morning. Tried to walk to the station to go to the game.
Decided to turn around and go home, watch it on TV and it was the best decision I made in a while.

Actually encouraged and heartened by that performance against a well drilled Nigel Clough side. I was expecting a lot, lot worse. Particularly heartened by Miles's contribution. He actually looked interested and energised for once. No obvious passengers and a second clean sheet in the league since our Captain has returned. My glass is definitely half full or my expectations are perhaps a lot lower than some on here.

Do you know if they count set pieces in that stat?
Undefeated in the league for 2 games. No goals conceded in the league for 2 games. And crowds still holding up really well with over 14,000 there on a very cold afternoon.
14000!!! Less than 8000 I’d say from watching the stream unless the East was rammo!!!
East anything but rammo, but highest number of freebies for a while. Always fun, not just the usual event of people unknowingly going to their seats carrying pints, went one further today with someone thinking you could walk into the seats smoking
What I would now give for Sir Chris's absolute Tour de Force 2011- 2012 League Triumph for the ages...he didn't 'talk up' league promotion..he took action, made savvy changes...and DID IT - proud...more's the shame this current bunch are nowhere near it...and quite frankly are yet again going absolutely nowhere...all talk, no trousers, PR aplenty... NO goals/wins equate to mid table mediocrity. At best. Current group are vectoring precisely nowhere - hope I'm well wrong but on the current 'evidence', doubt it.
Another game on a knife edge but lacking any real quality up front, despite us ending with four strikers on the pitch. Mansfield were on top first half, we had a decent spell in the second, but neither side did enough to deserve the win. The ref? Gave them everything, though thankfully we didn’t give him the chance to point to the spot.
The bigger concern for me is how flat we’ve become. At the start of the season, the energy was there; now it’s like the team’s either burnt out or stopped buying into Jones’ plan. For those calling for his head, who do you actually think we can get? Personally, I’d give him January to sort the squad. Knee-jerk changes now might just set us back even further.

Powell assembled a decent squad. The squad he inherited from Parkinson was pretty poor.
Jones has built a mediocre squad that can't score and tactically he is inept. To be so toothless in L1 is some achievement.

Jones can't be trusted to sign players - he's signed some real donkeys...

What’s the league average? And how does it look game by game for us?

most empty I can remember seeing the Covered End Upper for a Sat 3pm
We've looked second best to some pretty dire teams recently and - rubbing salt into the wounds - less mobile than them.

Things are moving in the right direction.
Oh. And Jones out tonight, please.
The referee was awful - he missed everything. It was like a wrestling match at times.
