Just a bit off topic, but while we are talking about the pass back rule, I can remember standing on the terrace at Sellout Park, watching a cup match i think, my memory is sketchy, and the rule had just been introduced, and we skied an attempted clearance from midway between the 18yd area and the halfway line, miscued and it flew back towards our goal and our keeper caught it, and the jobs worth ref gave an indirect free kick, think we conceded from it as well.
Anyway a bit of a memory trackback there, anyone else remember it?...🤷‍♂️
Recall it vividly. As others have said said it was Darren Pitcher's sliced clearance. That game was part of a run where we played Palace four times in a month. Away and then home in the League Cup, home in the Anglo Italian and home in the league. I think we had Millwall twice as well, away in the Anglo Italian (a 2 2 draw) and home in the league. I think the only one out of that batch we won was the home game with Palace in the Anglo Italian. Plus ça change.

    Anyway, as you were.
Well, clearly nothing wrong your memory mate it seems, thanks...🤷‍♂️

Great combination from John Humphrey and David Whyte....albeit for Palace.

    Superb composure from Leaburn too.

We were well beaten that night.
Then why put it on here.🧐🙄

Find the blaming of Watson slightly odd. He did lose his man but that wouldn't have been an issue if Ramsay was in line with the rest of the defence as the man in question would have been offside. It's one negative of having Ramsay in at CB, he isn't on the edge of line to look across it in the same way. It's one of very few weaknesses in his game but one I'm sure he will rectify in time
If was definitely Tennai’s fault. When’s the last time we conceded from a floated cross into our box before Saturday? And when would you have seen Small or Edwards let their man go completely free like that?

Seconds before it unfolds, you see him practicing going with the runner. Rewatching it, he takes his eye off the ball for just half a second at exactly the wrong moment, and by the time he’s come back around, it’s too late to react.
Just don't think it's an issue if the man is offside as he should be. The reason Watson doesn't track him is because he doesn't realise Ramsay is deeper than the rest of the backline. Sure he should probably notice it but it's not the biggest error in my opinion
I think it's a collective thing that leaves Watson in that position, if you are trying to play them off side ten yards out, it's pretty risky, far better that with the type of defenders we possess, that you mark your man. You would probably be able to try to play offside that deep if we had VAR, we don't so just mark your man.

Small has been beaten in the air for at least 2 goals this season after losing his man.
Possibly earlier in the season but as a collective unit, I can’t remember the last time we conceded from an open play cross into our box before Saturday.

    Probably Rotherham (A)?

And the fact that Ramsay’s position didn’t play the man on. Watson was goal side of the man at the moment the cross was sent in.
