I know some people won't ......No ! most people won't agree with me, it was good to see Ahadme back, he actually had one of our four shots on target, we are going to need him fit and finding some form.
    You're related?
If as reported Leaburn is out for the season and Kanu out for a month, we need my Uncle Gas to hit form, not before time to be fair.
And don’t worry, we also have Hylton up our sleeve 😅
  • I'm sure there has been one in the intervening years, but the last backpass I can remember involving us was vs Newcastle. Remember Shearer absolutely crushing one
  • What was the difference between our backpass and the one Wigan got away with last week?
  • Until the 1st goal cock up,we had plenty of the ball and looked the better side.however, this has been coming,we do not take enough advantage of our superior play.Last week we should have been out of sight, and ended up thankful for a 2-1,this has happened before, and today,we paid the price.I lost count of how many times the ball flew across their area with none of our players in a position to attack, there were some good crosses today from the by line,by both TC and Small, but nobody on the end of them. With Leaburn and Kanu not playing,Aneke looking Jaded,I think the only alternative is to Say to Gas,your in,earn your money and justify what we paid for you,you never know.
But we must not panic,we need to finish 3rd or 4th to get the away leg first,so maybe need 5 wins out of 8,(2nd place I think is gone).hold on for the ride.

People being quite harsh on Mannion. Made a lot of good saves in the game
Harsh maybe, but it is difficult not to get angry at such crass stupidity.
I thought Brewer diving on ball a yard outside his box was as idiotic as it gets but Mannion has taken it to a new level

Wouldn't have happened at all if Gillesphey hadn't cheaply given the ball away in the first place
So, have I got this right?

Ramsey passed the ball back to Mannion and, finding it hard to agree who was at fault, we go back to an earlier action by Gillesphey and blame him (as usual).

This post has 8 likes so far. Bloody typical unfair scapegoating of Gillesphey again.
Ramsay was at fault for the back pass, no doubt in my mind. However, the only reason that happened  in the first place was because Gillepshey gave the ball away in a dangerous position. That's not scapegoating, it's a fact.

Some of you are far too precious about certain players.

It is indeed. The disappointing thing, which I thought at the moment it happened was that it was the type of mistake he seemed to have worked so hard on to remove from his game in recent weeks. A lot of players had similar bad moments, starting with Jones rightly and needlessly being booked after just 3 minutes.

Our record since our loss to Rotherham is-: (please forgive any mistakes, I'm working literally from my hospital bed with a pen and the back of a cardboard box!)
    P 14, W 10, D 2, L 2, F 20, A 10 pts 32
    Win % 71.5
    Games left 8
    Pts available 24
    Win - 8 x 71.5% = 5
Therefore assuming we win 5 of the remaining 8 games, and draw 1, we will have 82 points at the end of the season.
Yesterday, I believe was ' one step too far' in the  sheer number of games played in such a short period of time.
Next Saturday we go again, play offs are still achievable, we just have to go on a similar run!

That looks impressive Red, and encouraging as well...now for your bed bath...😉

We've lost one game in seven and suddenly people are saying that we're about to slide out of the playoffs altogether.

I get the disappointment and yesterday was a bad performance and a bad result but remember the wise words of Curbs - don't get too positive on the wins or too negative on the losses.

Last time we lost we looked dreadful then too but then came a storming run. Let's not panic yet hey.
I’m not saying that, but as Charlton fans we’ve definitely been here before. Admittedly, as you say, we’ve bounced back well from defeats this season.

I agree but he still should have kicked that ball away . Having said that , they didn’t score from that , they scored from Watson not picking up his man a few seconds later .
  • So much was self inflicted. Jones getting booked after three minutes made him edgy. An early booking when playing against a big striker or target man can be managed better than when against pace. Any mistimed tackle then on was likely to result in a second yellow.

Their first goal. Gillesphey, Watson, Mannion, Ramsay could all have done better. It was a mess of a goal to concede.

Our corners. It was clear that as soon as Steer got the ball he would release their player on the edge of our box. Therefore keep the cross away from the keeper? Either go deep or between the penalty spot and 18 yard line. I think we were naive in that respect.

First time for a very long time I have missed Dobson. I think he would have been able to neuter some of the Peterboro attacks but that’s an aside really.

Need a win and a strong performance next week to settle us back down again.

  • Not panicking yet, but I am worried that we seem to have long spells of looking very vulnerable in our away games recently. Doesn't bode well for an away leg of a playoff.

As I said at 1.11am when I couldn't sleep, CL Posters will generally pick on the player that fit their narrative and leave their favourites out of any criticism.

The truth is Gillesphey, Ramsey, Mannion, and possibly Watson and Ramsey again all made individual and collective errors in the 'creation' of the 1st goal. Need to see the final ball into our area again to see if others were culpable and could a collective charge forward by CAFC defence have seen the scorer offside ? Unfortunately it didn't happen and a shocker of a goal to concede from several players. We went 400 minutes recently without conceding because when one player made a mistake, others had their back. That broke down and the ability of Peterborough to counter attack in transition was impressive as Charlton had to gamble and the improvement since the Valley game for Posh was like night and day.

No slight on Watson who had a steady game but Ramsey and Small on the right and Edwards and TC on the left were good combos over a dozen games and hopefully Josh Edwards is good to return for the Huddersfield match which takes on massive importance for CAFC to finish 3rd to 6th.
  • Best not to read to much into that game as it was just weird either team could have scored a hatful it’s just unfortunate that they did lol

if Edwards isn’t fit next week I would bring Mitchell in and let Ramsey play a more attacking role.

sadly Chucks is done I think and it’s sad watching him now. If Miles is out for the season as reported then Ahadme needs to earn his corn as we will need him
  • Still pissed off this morning.
We have to win all of the remaining eight games to have any chance of automatic promotion, so the sensible thing to do is get the three or four wins needed to get into the play offs and prepare properly for that mini tournament.
All hope is not lost, but yesterday was a big blow, and for our travelling support a massive let down.
  • Clutching at a straw here. But Godden is a more effective ‘target man’ than Ahadme who I think is hopeless in that role, but it may be that Ahadme is a better target for a good old fashioned cross from the wide positions, than long forward balls from deep.

Wasn’t that off the guys knee?
  • Great set-up at Peterborough- parked in side residential street ( no parking ticket ) next to ground and opposite fan park…
Shame about the result though ..

I think there are a lot of grey area cases with back passes where it can be difficult to say with 100% certainty that it was a deliberate pass and not just the bi-product of a tackle or a block that the ball ends up going to the keeper. To what extent was the defender deliberately playing it to the keeper as opposed to just getting it away from the forward and/or goal. With yesterday's back pass, there was absolutely no room for doubt, because when it wasn't rolling in that direction quickly enough, he had a second go at it.
