This my reflection of Peterborough. The sight seeing the high light of the day, oh and the Shed Tap and deli.
Are you sure you're in Peterborough and not Pisa?
I always thought Pisa looked like Petrborough.

Never were we three goals worse than them today, but it was still a very bad day at the office. After the calamitous mistake by Will Mannion that led to the first goal, we looked shaky and unsure in defence, especially vulnerable to their fast counter-attacking play. We were toothless in attack and despite getting into decent attacking positions we failed to create clear-cut openings. The result feels harsh but in truth they could have had more.

But let's not overreact. We've had a fantastic run but it was always going to end sometime. The trick now is to bounce back quickly and decisively. We managed that well after the defeats at Birmingham and Rotherham but Huddersfield will be a very stern test next week, both of our players and of Nathan Jones’ ability to inspire a passionate and controlled performance after today's disappointment.

Not at the game but agree re: the sentiment about bouncing back.

I think we can.  It’s always tricky when it comes to the timing of runs, and we’ve had an immense run since December

in 98, the last 8 games (as memory serves me) were the ones that gave us the impetus.  I think 18/19 the run started slightly earlier, with the Oxford defeat being the only one on Good Friday

I hope this is the defeat and we get back to winning ways, but it’s a bloody tough game next week.

Orient lost 5 on the bounce after their amazing run.  I just hope that’s not what we’re going to do 😂

Having had the good fortune to visit the first and the misfortune to visit the second, I can assure you that you are mistaken!

Just had a look at the stats and couldn’t believe we’d had 25 shots, in the ground it really didn’t feel like we were that attacking.

On another note I thought McIntyre looked good when he came on and he really put himself about which had been lacking. Didn’t think Aneke was as bad as others, he got himself 2 pretty good openings which was more than most

I think the pass back was a big problem it seemed to drain them. But why are we still relying on Chucks give one the youngsters a chance .

Really bad day at the office. Any spares for Cambridge away?. Disappointing and today promised so much.

Ah well. Peterborough away is always a miserable place for us and I think most of us had this one down as points dropped. Peterborough have really turned their season around and the last time they lost in the league was 8 games ago - against us. In that time they've taken points off Huddersfield and Wycombe as well as knocking Wrexham out of the banter cup so viewing them as a bottom-half side doesn't really tell the whole story. They've still got to play Reading, Stockport, Barnsley and Bolton so at the very least if they carry on this form it should stop the teams behind us taking advantage of the result today. Shame they're not playing Wrexham again really, they gifted them 6 points back when they were rubbish.

One thing I find odd is when we lose we really do tend to lose badly. Reminds me a bit of the bizarre Notts County 4-2 in the Powell season or the weird Colchester 2-0 where we were quite lucky to only concede 2. This was very similar to the Rotherham 4-2 where we just shipped too many chances and were punished for it. I'm loath to dig too far into this one, the real test will be recovering next week against a Huddersfield side that also look like they've woken up a bit. Win that and at the very least we can get back on track

What are people's thoughts on TC? For me he has improved on last season but as an attacking winger I have to question his quality. Great example today, he beat his man easily so many times today but not 1 cross was threatening. Just find him a frustrating player

As for Chucks I have no words.

Hopefully a small blip for us today and we go and make it 8 home wins in a row next week. COYR
  • So pleased we came over for this one… 🙄 The Peterborough players goading our fans were well out of order, we were not giving them any stick. They really caused the problems in the corner.

Apparently removing your shirt to celebrate a goal is antagonising fans so deserving of a booking but those antics aren't.  It's odd.
Our players do it too though, it seems to have been adopted by all players in the last season or two.  I find it all a bit odd.

@Garrymanilow I think the reason we lose badly when we lose is because we really go for it chasing the game. We ended the game with TC, Small, Ahadme, Aneke & Gilbert on the pitch who are all attacking players and Doc and Ramsay were pushing very high too. That attacking intent is why we conceded the third. It’s also why we won at Orient, won’t always work but when it does it feels fantastic

If the contract says you have to wear the yellow shirt but then all then badges and the oh-so important sponsors logos had fallen off the shoddy product, I’d imagine you could then wear a red shirt if the oh-so important sponsors logo was intact…

I think football has generally just become more antagonistic in recent years. Players who played for the club and left in non-acrimonious circumstances now get booed every time they go near the ball even if they were forced out by the club, fans scream abuse at opposition players that come near them just because they play for the other team and now players seem to be responding. I find it really weird that teams and players with no history of bad relations give each other this level of grief but it's all spun off the 'banter' trolling on Twitter seeping into real life.

We were very very poor today I thought.  Defense just not at it at all.
Ramsey at fault for the backpass, Mannion was going to collect it from his initial touch, and had gone down to do so, Ramsey then passes it back with a needless extra tough and Mannion, on the floor can't really do anything.
Aneke is totally busted, he just wrestles and gives away free kicks, killing all momentum. Sadly Ahadme is no better.  Praying Leaburn is not out long.
    Disappointing afternoon.

He's our main threat and without him, our attacks would not have any real dynamism.

In the 2nd half, there was a cross right from Small ready to be headed into an empty net, but TC went outside his defender rather than inside towards goal. To me, that showed his natural instinct is to go/remain on the outside. The type of chance that Chuks would have got his head onto, and put it over!

Statistically speaking any sequence of 6 ends on the 7th. I think any 7 ending on the 8th is an equal chance. Both Rotherham and today were the 7th in league game unbeaten runs.

At that rate, if we succeed in not losing to Huddersfield, then if that pattern held again (very likely for a 3rd run of games!), we could expect to lose at Wrexham.

Anyway I would hate to see a capitulation like today (or similar) in a play off game or at Wembley, as I'm sure we all would, but just maybe, hopefully, we have got a bad result out of our systems, and at a pretty good time.

The ball came off of Ramsay’s leg with the attacker pressuring him from behind. Mannion committed to taking it then but Ramsay took another touch which was effectively a pass back to the keeper. A mix up but I’m not sure it was the keeper’s fault. If Ramsay wanted Mannion to clear it I’m not sure he had the space to swing a kick with Ramsay being pressured from behind and the box congested. Just a feck up and it did seem to rattle them.
  • Get chuks starting his coaching badge and keep him in the club.  But playing days are done I think, unless he has some miraculous fitness regime over the summer.

Awful performance. Every one was bad, even our usual stand out performers like Ramsay.

Draw a line under and it and move on. Big game next week at home.

Have to disagree with that Davo. Second half they absolutely battered us and missed some real sitters before adding the third. In contrast we created very little.

Was right n front of me and definitely on Mannion. He had time to whack it clear. The second touch from Ramsay was totally unnecessary but he couldn’t predict what Mannion would do and he had an attacker right behind him

Wouldn't call it awful. There was good football from both sides from what I saw. Just not enough from ours over 90 minutes.
Also feels Ferguson was more prepared than NJ or, more definitely, deployed his assets more effectively.

An intriguing game overall I thought, and I think we have to give a huge dollop of credit to Peterborough no matter how difficult that may be for some.

The more annoying aspect of that was that we dealt with the free kick so well, then fucked up what should have been a run of the mill clearance

Missing Edwards and a decent forward other than Godden.

I'll look carefully at the highlights but at this stage don't agree at all that the first goal was primarily down to Ramsay. It wasn't a great back pass but Mannion still had time to hack it clear. 80% Mannion's cock up, 20% Ramsay's (copyright oohaah)

Agreed, think everyone was so relieved that we’d managed it that defending properly was forgotten

He ain't no Rak Saki that's for sure.

Might be quicker than Blackett Taylor but doesnt have the end product that CBT had.

Hopefully this will give us a reset similar to the Rotherham defeat. Need to aim for 3rd/4th and get a play off home leg at home last.

The 1st goal has nothing to do with the pass back. We defended that indirect free kick well and cleared. We then got sloppy and Watson didn't track his man to give him a free header.

Pass back was poor of course and no excuses for it. We jusr switched off after the hard work was done.
