This could be one that moves quickly as contracts in Scotland run until the end of May, as the info Braziliance posted above says.

If FM is accurate, Dundee also only pay their top earners around £2.5 to £3k a week, and being from their academy Mulligan won't be one of them. Would explain why Scotland is a market we're likely to use, with Edwards having come in and Calvin Charlton recently joining, who will presumably know a lot of players up there.
I'd have no issues with us going to the Scottish Prem, plenty of good players in there.

Same as the Scandinavian leagues like Birmingham have been signing from. Some real quality in there.

I'm expecting us to build a big physical side and those are good leagues to get that criteria from.

According to salary sport he's on £360 a week. That doesn't sound right.
Agree, and on Scandinavian leagues too. Not a new idea for English clubs, think of us under Curbs, even if we didn't directly sign players from those leagues. Good value for money with players not on big contracts, likely to speak English well, similar style of football (in comparison to Spain/Portugal etc) and unlikely to find our winter weather difficult to adapt to.

FM says similar on his wages, but maybe one source has fed the other, rather than both finding the info separately. Seems he signed his contract two years ago after Dundee had been promoted from the Scottish Championship. That was when he was 20 and it was off the back of his first season as a regular starter.

I’ve no inside information on who we might be signing this summer. But, on the way out of Wembley, I was eavesdropping on a conversation between my mate and a coach in the academy (who he knows) and the word on the street is we won’t be splashing too much cash in the summer window - we will be spending some. But interestingly, we have come under pressure, presumably from parents, to sell some of our Crown Jewels in the younger age groups. He said 3 U13 players had gone to Newcastle, Arsenal and Everton for combined fees of c£1.3m. Just passing on what I heard ..
Lesecond Yeutembip aged 14 went to Newcastle.  Would have been under EPPP rules so unlikely to be more than £20-30K I suspect.
Are you even allowed to "trade" players that young? Surely they have to be a bit older and have a contract?
This is part of the problem. I believe they can sign for whoever they want and we get compensation. If we were Cat 1 that compensation would be higher. At the moment we’re potentially a great, cheap feeder option for bigger teams. I’m actually surprised it doesn’t happen more
Ah right, so compensation the same as older players who could sign a pro contract, but choose not to and move on.

Im just really surprised about 13yr olds moving between clubs for money. But I guess that shouldn't really surprise me!
Genuine question. How does a thirteen year old up sticks and move from South London to eg Newcastle ? Does his family get moved which to me seems ridiculous and totally unlikely. How does it even work ?
It depends. When Finley burn (on loan at hull last year) moved from Southend to Man City, the family went with him. Man City paid for him and his sister go to a private school and helped the family settle.

im not sure who rio Ferdinand’s son plays for but he moved into digs

He’s a free agent so I take it we don’t need to pay any development fee due to being abroad, is that correct?
Can’t remember what age they stop but we’d have to pay a relatively small one I think
Interesting, I’m guessing it was similar when Aribo went to rangers then, Can’t remember getting too much of a fee for him

I still think we could do a lot, lot, worse.

Comfortable on the ball, could play in a back 5, strong, quick, and most importantly is a leader.

One off season doesn't define a player, and he only turns 30 in June. Very experienced player to have.

I'd personally be happy to see him here.
What happens with the defence and especially CBs will be interesting. I find it hard to imagine we’ll pay good wages for someone to be LJs back up, and I don’t see Ramsay being replaced unless we sell him. We’ve also got Zach Mitchell pushing for more involvement.

What it definitely is though is an area we can trust NJ to get right. There’s a balance to be found between having enough experience, not using up budget on cover that we could do with higher up the pitch and having a pathway for our young defenders and WBs.
I don't think we'll pay good wages for a backup for Lloyd Jones but I would expect us to pay for competition. This season Alex Mitchell did pretty well as RCB but isn't a patch on Ramsay and when we did need to put someone in for Jones or Gillesphey, McIntyre and Mitchell weren't consistently up to it. REG wasn't good enough cover either and got shipped out (where he helped give us a goal in the Playoff final) and this was all at L1 level. You get punished much worse for mistakes in the Championship and Jones will be very aware we were one bad hamstring strain or torn muscle from disaster - we won only 1 of the 6 games Lloyd missed in October and November and kept one clean sheet. We managed better later when we strategically rested him but still only kept 1 clean sheet in 4 and 2 of the goals we conceded in those games were directly errors from the players brought in in his place. We can't just bring in cover for Lloyd and Gillesphey, we need players who can actively challenge them and make sure we've always got quality in those key areas regardless of injury. Easier said than done but it's not like the back three we have now broke the bank, the players are out there.

Looks like a proper will-run-through-a-brick-wall type a la Josh Edwards. I like it
He’s gotta sort out the barnet. It looks alright, so will need to hack it up a bit to live up to our Josh’s high standards.
Or Matt Godden's lockdown style haircut  ;)
  • I’ve always liked the look of Hardie, thought he was great when Plymouth got promoted and hasn’t looked ton bad with them in the champ

That's a promising rumour. Scottish Prem roughly translates to the Championship, sometimes even the Prem for some individuals.

If he is good enough for Hearts and Rangers (judging by the sounds of social media he is) then he is probably good enough for us.

Sounds versatile, strong and like a grafter with a bit of technique. I could see Jones being interested.

First rumour I like the sound of 👍🏻

Sounds like just what we could do with! Sounds a bit like Galbreith from Orient who lots of us would also want!

Minor spanner is what Scott Fraser might have to say about us after his tough time here...

If we could get Mulligan on a free, that would be quite something!!

I was thinking he sounds similar to Galbraith with his positions, but why not get both..

Depends if we need to make two signings there. Someone suggested this was to replace Small which is still very possible but until it's confirmed it could just be to replace Watson instead. And this sort of player would be exactly why you don't give Watson another contract with the greatest of respect to him.

Anyone coming in has to be looking to get into the first team and that means all shirts up for grabs including Jones, Gillesphey etc

Apparently 8 unnamed Championship clubs want Kelman from QPR (was on loan at Orient). Could we be one of them?
  • A lot of people in Scotland seem to think he’s coming to us rangers fan made a comment that he was looking likely to come to us 5 days ago.

If 8 Championship clubs are after Kelman then he'd be staying put and playing if I were QPR. Had too good a season to be moved on.

Strange to see Salford mentioned, surely that's not going to happen if "a number of English Championship clubs are also interested". They finished 8th in L2.
  • Salford have money though similar to a Wrexham where they would just chuck money at him
  • Just looking at other younger players in Scotland, neither of these two who have been on loan at Hibs would surprise me, without knowing much about them:

Nectar Triantis - 6 ft 3 Greek/Australian defensive midfielder, 22 years old, regularly played for Hibs this season. Might add a physical presence to our midfield.

Mykola Kukharevych - 6 ft 4 Ukrainian striker with Swansea, 23 years old, 7 goals in 20 odd starts plus some sub apps. The type of striker NJ likes to develop perhaps.

I don't think we'll sign too many in their early 20s as NJ spoke about Championship experience, but we also know he'll want to add physicality and height to the team.

  • <3  this thread every summer.  Seriously I do. It is such a Charlton thing. South East London sardonic humour at its best.

Nectar Triantis? I've seen enough, with a name like that, sign him up.

On loan at Hibs last season from Sunderland, 2 years left there. Can't imagine he will break into their prem squad.

Hibs want him back. He won their Young Player of the year award and was also in the WhoScored team of the season on stats:

I do think we could do with some more height in the middle of the park/ up top.

The amount of money flying around at the top level I think a lot of things that seem ridiculous probably happen. I know that top PL clubs will offer to put kids through private education as part of signing them, it is really difficult for us to compete but we do so brilliantly of course
Cole Palmer went to St Bede's in Manchester. All paid for by the club. £17k a year fees so drop in the ocean for clubs like that.

How about Corrie Nbada at Kilmarnock? Left footed CB/LB, 25 years old, described as big, strong, athletic and comfortable on the ball. Irish/South African/Ghanaian. The catch? Ex Ipswich.

David Watson a DM/CM also at Kilmarnock, only 20 years old but plenty of appearances this season.

Sam Dalby in that team is a 6 ft 4 striker who Dundee Utd had on loan from Wrexham. Scored 15 goals in the SPL in 32 starts and 3 sub apps. I assume Wrexham will want to keep him after that.

Last I saw on Dalby was that Wrexham had offered him a contract, but he hadn’t accepted it
