  • Is Taylor actually back fit yet
  • How is Terry Taylor only 24?!
  • Is Taylor actually back fit yet
No, that's why he'd be ideal to hang on to. Just until he is fit, then he can be backup for another injured player

    No way Jose !
TBF it's better than 10 pages of fish puns that we had to trawl through in the past.
There'll always be a plaice for fish puns imnsho.
This shouldn’t be the sole plaice though.  We should definitely have a Boops Boops and Pollocks thread.

Gets fit, could be like a new signing
  • You can never be quite sure until the season unfolds of course, but my sense is that NJ, Chapple and Dr Will (there's more in the team doing this recruiting but those are the main names I know....) can pick 'em and can pick 'em very well indeed...... and maybe they're not quite done yet as well.....?
I think we're going to see some very exciting football this season and I can't wait!!
Somehow cant see much exciting football coming from us myself. Can see a lot of hustle and bustle, and grinding out enough results for survival/lower midtable.

Our midfield will not be controlling many games.
I think we'll be alright Balham...... you just wait and see :) .......... but I guess either way there'll be space for one of us to give a 'told you so' follow up in a couple of months or so....... let's just hope for all our sakes it's me :)

How is Terry Taylor only 24?!

Linda Taylor have confirmed the wee baby boy Terry was born on the 29/6/01 in Irvine and she will give a Glasgow kiss to anyone who slaggs off her bonny lad.

Fresh off the back of a starring loan stint at Northampton Town, midfielder Terry Taylor’s situation has been a topic of conversation at The Valley.

Now, we can bring exclusive news of the 24-year-old’s situation at Charlton Athletic. The72 has been told that Taylor is pushing for a first-team recall under Nathan Jones, but he is attracting extensive transfer interest from League One.

Luton Town and Barnsley have made enquiries over the possibility of signing the Aberdeen-born midfielder on loan, rivalling former loan club Northampton Town to bring Taylor in.

    Isn’t he still out injured?
  • I maybe using a Hackneyed phrase but I don't see TT as a Nathan Jones player.Probably hasn't got the engine and lacks physicality and isn't able to do enough work off the ball. A good quarterback
  • Think Taylor style of play may be more suited to the championship having a little more time on the ball then league one …  saying that  I don’t expect him to stay once fit ..

What are talking about more time on the ball. The championship you have even less time on the ball the pressing from teams is relentless. Everything needs to be a couple of seconds quicker to survive in this league

On Rich's pod today he mentioned 10 or 11 signings so it looks like there is potential for 2 more
RWB and a CM would be my choice for final two.
Can't see it being anything else unless we're planning on giving Bennett a year to cover Edwards instead of a CM.

Have 8 midfield options as much as we could probably do with another quality midfielder you’d probably have to get Taylor and most likely Berry out the door first before that would even become possible
  • I genuinely had no idea TT was still with us!
  • I think the last 2 signings need to be wing-backs based on squad depth right now, unless NJ is comfortable with a combo of Rankin-Costello, Apter and Ramsay all being slightly makeshift RWBs and Edwards only having Bell and potentially Enslin as cover, which given the fact we've had one of each on trial for a couple of weeks, suggests these are the 2 positions we're still looking at.

I hate to say it but RM is correct. There will be more time on the ball in The Championship but it's what we do with it that counts. I also thing Terry Taylor hasn't been given a chance under Jones and when he was he performed pretty well but that was League one.
  • Jamaica’s prowess in broader athletic terms is quite astonishing. As far as football is concerned it’s probably a bit of an undiscovered goldmine in terms of Jamaican football league talent. Great forward thinking by the club for exploring the potential.
Well done to Charlie M for identifying this athletic hotbed :)

TBF his Academy last week launched an official partnership with a club in Belgium.
  • Generally speaking, as you move up the leagues you get more time on the ball, but teams are better organised, players are more positionally aware, so it's more difficult to use that time effectively as you're options are taken away.

That's why players with vision become more valuable the higher the level, they are the ones who can thread the needle and unlock the opponents.
