Robbed by the umpire who dismissed our top RBI/HR Molina.

Can't win them all. Still best pct in MBL

Those crazy Mets sweep the reigning World Champs The Giants in San Fran.
Meanwhile the Cards sweep the Astros (just like old times) in St Louis and are once again atop the NL Central.
Red Sox and Redbirds the only 2 MLB teams over .600
All is right with the world.

    .........................Albert who?

Went to my first live game on Saturday and really enjoyed the evening, though it went to 11 innings so was a bit long winded.

Luckily there was lots of action at the end to keep my interest. Angels were 7 - 3 down batting second in the 9th and managed to score 4 in the last to take it into the extra innings and eventually run out winners.

Lots of funny looks from the locals as I was wearing my Charlton shirt.

Lincecum threw a no hitter for the Giants against the Padres last night, long way back from where we are but it's a start...

Glad to see the dodgers playing better now. Back to around.
.500 and in contention in a close nl west. If i had to pick a likely world series and this point would probably go red sox v cards
  • Rays the hottest team prior to the All Star break (9 wins from 10), and now only 2.5 games back from Boston

    All Star game on tonight

    AL starting line up :
    Trout LF
    Cano 2B
    Cabrera 3B
    Davis 1B
    Bautista RF
    Ortiz DH
    Jones CF
    Mauer C
    Hardy SS

    NL starting line up :
    Phillips 2B
    Beltran RF
    Votto 1B
    Wright 3B
    Gonzalez LF
    Molina C
    Tulowitski SS
    Cuddyer DH
    Harper CF

Very strange not to see Albert in those line ups

    Albert who? ; - )

AL beat the NL 3 - 0 so the American league team gets home advantage in the world series.

Cards still the team with best record but have been poor in last few weeks.

Seems to be a very level seasoin with few teams over .600 and close races in most divisions.

To be fair they are six games clear but haven't been that great at all....the Nats and Phillies have just been very average so far.

If you look at the last 10 record across all the divisions only Tampa Bay are in any real form. The whole thing is there for the taking this year.

The All-Star game last night was an utter bore-fest....no atmosphere, little action, even Neil Diamond sounded like he wanted to be elsewhere!

Amazing intro for Mariano in his last All-Star Game and hilarious seeing Prince Fielder so excited to get a triple in the 9th that he tried to "low 5" the 3rd base ump. Otherwise a bit of a non-event.
Cards and Pirates have to play each other more than a dozen times 2nd half.
Got to admire the way MLB organises itself so that pretty much every team can get competitive reasonably regularly.....................apart from the Cubs of course ;o)
  • And the Rays sit proudly atop the AL bEast...are currently on real tough road trip - Toronto, Boston, Yanks - have won 6 of 7 so far
Rays best record in AL, Cards best in MLB

I am travelling route from Chicago to Las Vegas, then going up to San Francisco, then down to LA in October between the dates of the 1st and 29th October. Would like to catch a baseball match at some point, but from what I have seen I think this is when the play offs/end of season is. Anyone know if I will get a chance to see a match in that time frame?

The regular season ends in late September and then there are a few days off until the play-offs start in early October.

If you want to catch a game it'll come down to whether you happen to be in town when there's a play-off match scheduled.

Given that you'll be in three cities with MLB teams...

In Chicago the Cubs are unlikely to make the play-offs and neither are the White Sox. In SF the Giants might make the play-offs but I doubt it, however the LA Dodgers should get a play-off spot - they are leading their division although it's tight at the top.

So your best chance is the Dodgers and then you'll have to hope that they are in town at the same time as you and that you can get a ticket.

Cards on a shocking run - now lost 7 on the spin and another tonight vs the Pirates would represent a 5 game sweep and would put them 3.5 games behind. Next up...Cincin.

....thank you and goodnight to ESPN America.

Blimey, talk about hot and cold. Cards lose 7 straight and look clueless with the bat, then score 26 in 2 games to go 1/2 game behind the Pirates.
Game 2 of Cards v Reds series tonight on ESPN (Sky 417 if you have BT Sport) at midnight.

DBacks plodding along 5-5 in the last 10, no big streaks either way, don't think we'll catch the Dodgers now, will have to look at the Wildcard spots

Yanks @ Boston tonight. Fireworks already. Ryan Dempster just deliberately hit A-Rod the A-Hole with a pitch. Both teams got warned so Girardi went mental and got tossed.
This has been coming. Dempster is the first player to make such a statement on the field about A-Hole's behaviour off it. Good on him. A-Rod is a fucking arrogant corrupt prick.

Yeah. Unfortunately he's ended up on top in that battle. Annoying. Red Sox don't look capable of winning this game now.

Cards back to winning form since Molina's return, thankfully. Big 4-game series starting tonight hosting the Braves (tonight's and Saturday's game live on ESPN).

  • What a surprise! The Giants lose again. I'm now regret having forked out 400 Dollars for tickets to see them play the Dodgers in September!

Really enjoying how the dodgers have come right back after a slow start to the season. We now look a certainty for the Play-Offs and are as hot as anyone at the moment.

Braves and Dodgers look locked on.

One of Cards, Pirates and Red in the NL central but the other two will be the wild cards.

Red Sox barely hanging on in the AL East. Looks like it will be tight between us and the Rays for the division. Just great to see the Yanks nowhere in sight. Am hoping once Clay is back fit alongside Peavy, Lester, Doubront and Lackey we will have the pitching to match our offense.
