Well, this bloke is certainly making an impression on me already.

Wasn't convinced with the starting line-up but sounds like he was very pro-active with his subs and we pushed on and got a deserved goal.

Also had £5 on us at 10/1 with 3 mins left :)

How good does it feel when we win. Gutted I had dad duties tonight so couldn't be there.

It's easier to get a new partner than a new football club, I hear.

Even better when you have 1-0 Dervite first goal scorer at 90/1

The drinks are on you, I believe.

So who else apart from me called Yann a c$$t for rolling around when he hit the advertising hoarding then sprint back on the pitch.

Most probly clapped him, good to encourage visiting players when they come on.

I clapped him when warming up.

    Yes

Again he offered nothing. This running and work he does for the team argument is also wearing thin, as I don't think he makes the best of runs either.

Someone will be able to tell me but are his only league goals this season against Barnsley (a), Blackburn(a) & Doncaster(h). Am I missing any, I can't think of any more.
  • I think the Solly injury has affected us badly this season. Not because Wilson has been poor or not been more than adequate cover because I think he's been terrific but because he is exactly the type of player we have been needing on the right hand side the whole season, look what happened when they both played on the right against Brighton. This is shown by the 3 games under Riga, we've played four different players in that right attacking mid position in those games: Reza, Pritch, Green and Sordell. Wilson would have been the solution in that role but unfortunately he has other duties in a solid back four!

I agree with that and if Nego is not good enough (?) then the club need to bring in a right back or right half on loan...unless Solly return is imminent and he can play in most of the run in.

Too early to say on Nego but on his only appearance thus far at Wigan he looked lightweight and off the pace which I suspect is down to a lack of game time. If he can't get up to speed on the training pitch or in U21 games then he is not what we need right now to free up Wilson to RM.

To be honest with the amount we've (not) heard about Solly I would not be at all surprised if he calls it a day at the end of the season. It doesn't seem like he's ever got near to properly fit all season, or perhaps the exact same problem keeps cropping up - which suggests it is beyond repair sadly.

I really really really hope I am wrong!

    Totally agree with this.

Noticed that when running, he slows down and backs off before even reaching the oppo player with the ball? Makes me think it's all for show, no substance...

What's more when the midfielders run with the ball he just stands there rather than moving and taking his marker with him! Granted he's only 21/22, he may benefit from a spell in the reserves,... But definitely NOT in the first XI!

When Bournemouth had their last attack and their goalkeeper went up for the corner why did Hamer not just hit it long and goal bound instead of sitting on it? If you don't buy a ticket you don't get a shave :-)

Initially I thought that but we were one up and rather than risking losing possession it was better to err on the side of caution. Although it would have been good to see Hamer punt it straight into their goal.

I wondered that. Was it a case of "Goalkeepers' union"???? I think when that goal went in at Stoke the scoring keeper apologised or something.
  • More interested in running down the clock with us in posession rather than giving the ball away with 30 seconds left to play.

That's great news, a fit again Solly would be great whatever division we're in.

Yes, I don't think I said he had a great game, but it wasn't as terrible as some are making out. I think he contributed. Maybe I am wrong or maybe I judge more by what I see rather than my prejudices about a player. Green was ok too apart from that free kick - so there's another one for people to knock down. Doesn't mean I am saying they are great players, but if they played alright we shouldn't be accusing them of having a complete mare because it suits the point we want to make. The only player who I thought was poor on the night was Harriot and if he was injured- that explains it.

Descriptions of this game sound a bit like what Sheff U did to us in the Cup..

No. There was something wrong that day. We now understand that Powell refused to play AA & Reza thus putting his neck on the line should things go pear.
The team was unbalanced, Church wasen't fit. There was only going to be 1 winner.
Indeed in view of the run Sheff U deserved it.
We created perhaps two meaningful openings in 90 mins. We got what we deserved.

Church left on his own so what do people expect. JJ rarely ventured forward to support as clearly under instructions to hold the centre groun.
Poyet & Cousins so deep they were almost holding hands with the back 4. No point in expending unnecessary energy in chasing the game from the outset.
Especially in view of 3 games in previous 9 days including a morale sapping cup defeat.
Riga kept powder dry for the 2nd half. But for poor finishing we would have finished them off much earlier.
Took me two days to work this out so understandable supporters on the night screaming at Church & Jackson to chase down every ball deep in opposition territory.
Not even Kermo was that good as a lone striker. He struggled to hold the ball up. Thankless task so don't be slagging guys given such a short straw.
